Cheery's country living adventure

Agreed! I used to get the occasional bus into Uni before I could drive, and I'm sure it was £1.10 in 2002/3 😮! I was on the south coast then too, but the other end!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days

Ha, it was a special student ticket, even up here it's not that cheap!
Much excitement this morning - got to the cafe and they'd had a power cut! Managed to get tea and toast (although Mr Cheery had to have cold milk in his coffee as the machine wouldn't work), but then the fridges went off and they ended up closing altogether. The till wasn't working either so I owe them £6.75 Not like we can leave the country or anything though7 -
Yes, even the university-run bus company here wasn't that cheap! (in 2006)
Drama at the cafe! Can't imagine that you'll never show your face again there for the sake of £6.75
Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Yes, quite Vix - it's not like they haven't got my phone number either! Probably be back tomorrow if they've opened again
Can't believe how warm it is! Sat outside working in saddles and a summer dress with strappy sleevesnot been this undressed outside all year! Shame I have to work really...
Booked the car in for MOT on Thursday, although I now need to ring and warn them it keeps losing power so they'll need to sort that out too. Tried, but they must be shut for lunch.
Had two emails about LPG - one from current supplier apologising about the direct debit, saying they'll switch as promised and refund the £237 they took, so that's good. The other from potential new supplier with fixed price deal (35ppl with a 3.5p cap in year 2). Existing said they'd do 33ppl with no cap in the second year, so I'll have to do a few calculations to see what works out best. Doesn't seem to be much in in (although hard to know without the cap of course) so easiest to stay with current people I guess (especially as it doesn't involve a tank inspection!)
I was thinking I'd have to spend all day wandering between cafes on Thursday as my office still isn't open, but it turns out I can book a space in a different building for the day, so I'm going to do that - will save me a fortune (although I might still buy some tea...). Need a quick chat with the boss first though as there's paperwork to be done before I can book it. Yawn.
Right, best get on with some work. Forgot to put the washing on which is annoying, and the machine takes 2 hours, so not much point now (although it's so warm it might dry...). Nice tomorrow too so I might just stick it on tonight - been distracted enough today already!8 -
'Sat outside working in saddles' 😮 I know you like to work the land the old fashioned way Cheery but I think that might be taking things a little too far 😂😂😂😂😂

(23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!6 -
Ha, got to be watchful with that pesky autocorrect!! Sandals of course (and it must have initially been a typo because it does actually recognise sandals...)
Goodness that was a long day!! I was SO tired when I got up that I let the chickens out then lay on the sofa for another hour, before finally admitting that I wasn't going to go to sleep and might as well get up. All the fresh air at the cafe and in the garden must have livened me up though, and after I finished work I put my overalls on and mowed all the lawn with the scythe
MUCH easier than mowing the long tangled grass in the fieldand mowing the grass does give a good sense of achievement I think!
There are still some bits round the fruit trees I'd like to do, and round the back of the house - might do the house bits tomorrow but the fruit trees can wait. It's certainly helped my feeling of despair to tame a bit of garden!
(We won't mention that 'mowing the lawn' wasn't an action point on my giant list...)
Anyway, I've not long come insideand am currently thanking my past self for making several Joe Wicks meals and sticking them in the freezer a few weeks ago
just defrosting one and boiling a couple of eggs to have with it. Breakfast smoothie is already in the blender too!

Good luck with the giant list cheery! 😀Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!8 -
Surely mowing the lawn comes under ongoing garden jobs, like ongoing housework jobs? So it wouldn’t be on the list but still needs doing 😊Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
