Cheery, your last paragraph made me feel far less guilty about some things! 👏👏
My excuse today was that after this morning's exertions, this afternoon I was entertaining passers-by with my solo dancing out the front while my neighbour played 40s music through her loudspeaker. For TWO HOURS! 😱
Probably gave them a good laugh, 😂, but it saved me from having to do my daily zumba routine!
I did also make two lots of soup when I came back in, before collapsing in a heap!(I just lurve spiders!)

I'm hoping there won't be many cows roaming across my actual garden either! 😮😂
Good excuse there Pyxis, well done you! No dancing here, but I've spent the whole day outside, walling and fencing and digging and attacking bits of ling grass and I am thoroughly worn out. Evening light is lovely though, and I'm taking past in an exercise every day challenge with some friends, so while I could argue I've done well more than my allotted 15 mins exercise today already... I'm going to go for a little walk round the block in the last of the sunshine, and I might give my mum a ring while I'm out. Too tired at this point for any more effective gardening anyway!
Tried to make crisps in the dehydrator... no idea what's wrong but they've literally gone grey and look and taste vile 😮😂6 -
Morning chums 😊 How are we all today?
I'm having a cheerful day so far. Shifted from bed to sofa at 5am cos Mr Cherry was having quite a disturbed night and kept waking me up too. Don't feel too bad today considering!
Been pottering round this morning, so far I've
- done a thorough tidy of the living room, including hoovering down the back of the sofa etc
- washed the bedding and got it out on the line (although it's just started to spit so we'll see how that goes)
- peeled two bags of sprouting new potatoes and put them on to boil
- put a chilli in the slow cooker using another bag of frozen veg
- watched some homesteading videos while peeling potatoes which made me want to be all productive and grow more things 😂
- cleaned out the chicken run
- took LOADS of compost out - the normal compost, the tub of coffee grounds, the bowl of potato peelings, yesterdays failed potato dehydrating experiments...
- wrapped a parcel and wrote a card ready for posting on Monday
That's it I think! Just making a cuppa and going to sit with the chickens for a bit, then some gardening & walling planned this afternoon7 -
That sounds very productive Cheery! I think I probably need to attend to sprouting potatoes...,Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Blimey, Cheery! And all that after an exhausting day yesterday!
Just has some of the asparagus soup I made yesterday, and really enjoyed it. I did also tidy my crammed fridge. Had to wash the last of the veg that were in a bucket holding bay with a couple of ice packs, as I found an ice pack had split and everything was soaked.
I did cook a few of the Jersey Royals which were delicious. First of the year.(I just lurve spiders!)

My dyslexia kicked in and I read it as you had wrapped the compost for posting 🤣 I was trying to work who to and why. I have since reread and it makes much more sense.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Ha, fortunately I'm not sending anyone compost through the post! 😂
Glad I'm not the only one with sprouting potatoes! Ours seem to have cooked ok, but unsurprisingly they're quite flavourless- contemplating roasting them, and perhaps cooking some of them into some kind of egg flan thing tomorrow. Chilli in the slow cooker looks tasty too - wasn't ready in time for lunch so I had leftover pizza from yesterday, but it'll be lovely for tea.
Mr Cheery also reminded me we had some custard from his birthday supermarket treat buying extravaganza - we've not got any fresh fruit but I noticed we had a tin of peaches so I might knock a quick and rather basic crumble. Looks like we're in for quite a filling tea! 😮😂
More time spent in the garden this afternoon - I've been carrying on digging the grass out of what will be the veg beds, and putting rocks round the side of the new fence to block the gaps under the chicken wire. It's starting to look like a good space now!
Mr Cheery fired up the garden shredder that we got from feeble a few months back but haven't used. It works well! He's now casting around for other things to shred, as the pile we had accumulated only made one small bucketful 😂 My plan to use it for the garden path might have been somewhat ambitious!7 -
Mmmmm. Chilli eaten, and peach crumble too, and now predictably I'm rather stuffed and have little desire to go back to walling 😂😂
We ate all the chilli, but half of the crumble and custard is left for tomorrow, and I've made a baked oat mix ready to put in the oven for a warm breakfast tomorrow morning. Will be nice to take away the shock of the cold weather I think 😂
Not much more on the cards for tonight. I did want to nip down and check where the farmers put the fence the other day - I know some of the wall is coming down beneath it so I'd like to fix that if possible. And I need to fill in the massive hole that be dug out with the digger when looking for the pipe. Not sure whether either of those will get done tonight, let alone both of them 😂
We also wanted to nip to the supermarket - we've been out of fresh fruit for days and are almost out of milk again. Might suggest I go in myself this time - Mr Cheery usually does it and I've not been in a supermarket at all since lockdown started (I'm not complaining, I've not missed it at all!)7
