Afternoon chums 😊 Supermarket trip postponed til today, we decided to just take advantage of the nice weather yesterday. Had the most spectacular storm last night. Thunder and lightening right overhead, lighting up everywhere, big forks and everything 😮 we went outside at first but it got quite scary as it got closer & we watched from inside instead. Today has been quiet so far, mostly reading and blog post writing and sorting through photos. Made an omelette for lunch using half a bag of frozen peppers, and fried up some of the new potatoes I boiled yesterday - they're not that interesting but ok. Half of the rest are roasting in the oven now, and I'll do the final lot once these are done. Speaking of frozen things, still trying to run down the freezer. Today I excavated what appears to be some kind of casserole - that's now in the slow cooker with the rest of the bag of frozen peppers and a bag of butternut squash, and we'll eat whatever emerges with roasties for tea. Not too much left in there now. - 2 pizzas - packet of pitta breads - half a baguette - bag of peas - bag of green beans - another bag of butternut squash - another bag of peppers - bag of mixed veg Plus assorted mini milk lolly ices, a few random ice pops, and that's about it I think. Hopefully get through those this week and be able to defrost next weekend. Right, off out to plant some more seeds in the greenhouse - they only type of gardening this wild and windy weather is fit for!9

Although it’s still jolly warm at the moment. Had to open more windows as it feels sultry. Maybe that the herald of a thunderstorm, although there is no rain in the forecast. Wouldn’t mind, though, as I can’t be bothered to water my pots.
@Cheery_Daff I love the idea of a casserole excavation! 😂😂😂
I hope that’s what it is, and not some stewed fruit or something! 😉 I’m wading through my asparagus lake and mountain at the moment! Having previously turned orange from all the carrots, I thought I would turn green by eating loads of the tasty stemmy things 😁.
I should really be Irish, shouldn’t I? 😂

It did actually say casserole fortunately, and I took the precaution of defrosting (and tasting!) it before adding everything else... 😁
No idea what happened to all the spaces in my last post, I do apologise!
Out in the greenhouse now, and I've planted peas, sweetcorn and spinach, as well as a load of festering flower seeds that I found in packets in a corner of the greenhouse. No idea if they'll grow but no point wasting them at this point!
Lots are sprouting now - turnip, cabbage, beetroot, chard, kale, Swede. Just waiting for leeks & celeriac, and I'm about to plant cucumber, lettuce & coriander.
I should point out that I am an enthusiastic seed planted, but my track record in getting veg to harvest is... middling 😂😂 But I've got my fantabulous new fenced in veg plot now so fingers crossed!8 -
i'm really good at planting seeds too😂😂 I've managed a couple of courgette plants this year and I think I've saved one tomato plant. Hopefully your fabulous new plot will do the trick!8

Ha, glad it's not just me! I have plenty of space, plenty of pots, plenty of compost, and no excuses! This will be the year that I grow more food than we can eat!! 😂7

Urgh, far too late going to bed and alarm is set for the chickens in less than 6 hours... 🙄 hey ho.
Money saving things tomorrow...
* Mr Cheery has made soup from my unpromising casserole, and I have half a baked omelette thing left too so that's lunch sorted, and I might break into one of the pizzas for tea
* banks & YNAB in eve
* need to pay the car tax - might as well SORN it for all the use it's getting! 😂
Er, that's it 😂 might go for a run, might do some housework, video chat with friend in the evening, all good. And I'll try to get to bed earlier tomorrow!

Morning chums!
Oops, didn't get round to Monday Finances last night... Had tea (leftover omelette with fried cabbage and sesame seeds), went for a lovely (but chilly) walk in the last of the sunshine, and then collapsed on the sofa with Mr Cheery and forgot all about the car tax. Hey ho - not due til the end of the month.
A job for tonight though!
Going to take a leaf out of themadvix's book and list MS things and gratitudes - hope she doesn't mind!
Money saving things
* Delving into the freezer for either dinner or tea (possibly pizza). Want to get it defrosted this weekend so I can start batch cooking!
* Banks and YNAB tonight
* Want to spend half an hour setting tablet up for Matched Betting tonight - didn't do any at all in April and I'd like to get back to it in a small way at least, I liked generating a bit of extra income!
* Started checking Prolific yesterday - nothing then, but I'll periodically check throughout today as well.
Gratitudes
* Sunshine at breakfast time, so I sat on the terrace to eat. It was rather chilly though so I didn't sit out long! And it's now gone grey, so I'm glad I made the most of it
* Grateful for the electric heater in my studyNot exactly money-saving, but better than putting the central heating on. I've also got fingerless gloves & hot water bottle, brr!
* Mass Observation Diary day today! I LOVE the Mass Observation project, and often forget 12th May but I'll be keeping a diary today, and would encourage you to do the same if you're able and fancy it! Link here.
* Had a nice video chat with a friend yesterday. We share a gardening enthusiasm, so we each had a look at some of the National Garden Scheme open gardens virtual tours, and then had a chat about them (and plenty of other things). It was actually a really nice thing to do, and a good way of directing chat when there isn't really that much going on in normal life.
Right, best get on with some work - hope you all have a good day too

You're always welcome to copy me Cheery!
Mass Observation Day - how had I never heard about this?! I will so do that!Your video chat with a friend sounded lovely - I know what you mean about nothing happening - Dad and I had a long period of silence on the phone yesterday and he said, You can keep talking' (he was doing something) and I just didn't have anything to say... a first!
