I love that your son walked past you sunshine! That just goes to show what a transformation you've had.
I'm more of a Mansfield Park kind of girl than Fifty Shades. I haven't read it or seen the film! My easy literature of choice tends more to the John Grisham.
I agree with other TIE that your house doesn't sound habitable and particularly if you or your partner have medical needs, you need to be speaking to council about being temporarily rehoused. Would your GP support with a letter?
Bubbs we got the fridge freezer from John Lewis in the end and they delivered and installed it and took away the old one with no fuss - and a two man team in the end!0 -
The Jane Austen films vary so much. It'll be hard to beat Colin Firth and the wet shirt!:D
If you want to look at book/film combinations for Jane Austen then Persuasion and Sense and Sensibility aren't bad.
If you like costume drama, I thoroughly enjoyed Cranford and Return to Cranford recently. Fantastic films with a stellar cast and Gaskell's books are good too.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to stock up on books for my holiday in June. I generally go to the charity shops and buy paperbacks that I can leave in the hotel.
Sorry to go off topic but talking about holidays will help me focus on being bikini ready!:D We've got a wedding next weekend ( 2 nights away) and then it'll be all systems go to get as low down in target range as possible. We're having an apartment so I'll have a little more control on food although we eat out every night and most lunches. Plus the resort I'm going to doesn't sell slimline tonic! I'm thinking of taking Ryvita with me to stop myself eating the lovely bread at breakfast. Not sure if I have the willpower though.:(
ETA: Sorry to hear about your back tie. Keep us posted on the bathroom saga. Grey not my cup of tea either. Earl Grey maybe?;)
The film I watch definitely did not have Colin Firth. OH had put one on that had Billy Piper as Fanny - I had to tell him to find another version!
I have both of these on my kindle, ready to go when I get some time/energy!I love that your son walked past you sunshine! That just goes to show what a transformation you've had.

I read 50 shades from a psychological perspective, which was captured well in the original books - but not the ones from his perspective.
I do look totally different, but everyone else recognises me!
I don't read ofter, but when I do I like to read different styles, I will have a look at John Grisham (when I get around to reading again!).

I'm back at home now and had a catch up - can't believe how many pages I needed to read to get here! You lot don't 'arf natter!
You must look so different SSM if even your own son didn't recognise you! How much more are you hoping to lose?
That's a long time without a bathroom - I'm surprised at your council not moving you out temporarily - it's not good enough at all. Definitely pester them daily.
I'm another who only really reads when on holiday. Very occasionally I'll read at home but not often. I like "easy reading" nothing too heavy! I'm another who likes John Grisham's books. I've never read 50 Shades but did see the film on TV which I have to say I didn't really enjoy - it was only on because DH was watching it - I'd of turned the TV off if I'd been on my own! I usually just take my Kindle which I have downloaded loads of books - probably got enough on there for the next 10 years, LOL!
Has been an extremely synful weekend, particularly Friday night! Think I've probably got about 5 syns left to last until Wednesday!!!
Today's plan:
B - bacon,egg, mushrooms & beans
L - butcher's burger; roll; onions (HEB + 1.5)
D - lamb shoulder with mint and balsamic glaze (3 syns); roast potatoes, onions, peppers & carrots; green beans. Probably won't need gravy as the glaze will be enough for the amount of gravy I have but will probably need to make some for DH
HEA - milk
HEB - roll
Syns - roll 1.5; lamb 3

STS (again. sigh) for me this week. Am hoping the time of the month is hiding a small loss. On the plus size, someone who hasn't seen me for a while commented that my thighs looked smaller... though they still wobble a lot when I walk
Have managed more exercise this week so that's helped me feel a bit better and is hopefully helping to tone things??
Thanks for all your kind words last week, am still feeling a bit down in the dumps but have so far managed to avoid junk/comfort eating. Am visiting family next week though and they are terrible feeders so will have to be firm with saying no to muffins/biscuits/cakes/chocolates/crisps and do my best with the main meals they serve!
I also have a slightly stressful start to the week, so will have to see where I am next Sunday! Thanks again for the support of this thread and well done to all of the many losers this week :j0 -
