Hi Clarienne! Where's the family you're studying? I'm mostly in Liverpool, but also Ireland,Yorkshire and Northants. I was up at the National Archives on Friday, got 1911 census records, a military medical record for my great grandfather, divorce proceedings from 1924 (my relative was The Other Woman, oops), a few other searches that yielded no results, but are still valuable in terms of where next to look.
My lot are mostly Northumberland, Lincolnshire and Norfolk with a few other shoots here and there. (Dad reckons he's descended from Rob Roy McGregor - my challenge is to proveit but uh have me doots. :rotfl:) I have a missing Welsh ancestor who ran off with Another Woman in the 20s - wasn't from Newport was he?
I havn't been to the National Archives yet - I'm just starting out - getting what I can from existing family, and Ancestry.com. I wish the National Archives were closer to Bristol. :search:

Ooh, what fun to be starting! Fraid the bloke who had the Other Woman isn't yours.... he was from Norfolk, invested in Kodak at the beginning of the century, and was a millionaire - chateau in France, servants, the lot! Very interesting bloke tho - in spite of the millionaire bit, he supported the local miners' union, an anarchist group, and the local Communist Party. Fairly unmistakable!
Most of mine are dirt poor factory workers, some merchant seamen, and a few agricultural labourers and railway workers, plus a couple of laundresses. Their lives were incredibly hard.
It is funny about famous ancestors, isn't it? We have a few tall tales here and there, but as I've found with my millionaire bloke, there's often a little bit of truth in them - our knowledge of him had dwindled to a couple of lacy dresses that were castoffs from his daughter, that my mum wore (to rags) when she was a toddler.
PM me if you need a hand with anything - can't promise, but I'd always try my best.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Blimey Fay! Thats fairly busy, even for you. Thanks for visiting, I appreciate it.
I'm still exhausted.... not even trying to trade. Yesterday was incredibly intense .... heaving furniture away from the walls, stuff off the floor, in *every* room, then wiping down every skirting board and piece of vinyl near a wall, then vacuuming any carpet near a wall, all the while feeling sick with worry about the spectacle that might be presented after the pest control man has been. And he was 45 mins late, and I had two mystery shops to do in a local town. In the end, everything went smoothly, the whole day, tho I didn't finish inputting the shops till 9pm, and the house is a *complete* mess. Not what you'd want for Easter, but at least its just me. I was also thinking I might well have to spend yesterday night at a hotel, but it was fine.
So today ..... little bit of house straightening .... haven't even done the scratchcards yet .... got 2.5 hours work in the afternoon and evening .... I have no clue what I'm going to do today, actually. I'm just keeping warm and taking it minute by minute, really, I'm a little shocked by just how much junk I've still got - papers, mostly. I need to do some hard thinking about that.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

:hello::j Hi Squirrel! Not quite sure about parents for you, but that sounds brill - hope you really enjoy it.
Family is all a bit down at the mo - my mum's just had a biopsy, my brother's been off work for ten days with his back (couldn't get out of the car after an hour's journey) and my sister had to cancel her trip to France because her husband is illthings not going terribly well at the mo.
Me, I'm fine! Except for being shattered after all my efforts yesterday. I'm starting to feel shallow cos I feel okay!I've got one more piece of work to do, this evening, then I'm free. And I'm starving, too.

It seems to happen like that in families eh? Don't feel guilty that you are not ill, you need your strength to support the others as such.(((hug))) for a bit of extra support.
Forgot to add hope you have a good week Squizz.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0
