  • I probably wouldn't part with the mags..but if you must, why not have a look at a specialist magazine shop first? You never know as there maybe the making of a few more spondolics to add to your mortgage pot..congrats on the extra colouring in:T ..Bob passes over a nice shiny star to put in corner.:D

Hiya! the mags were precious to me for a looonng time. Especially when I bought them, but its years since I've looked at them, they're so ephemeral, and they take up *so* much space. I've looked at two second hand shops here, and I've tried to sell some in the Classifieds of one of the mags concerned - SFX. No go. Truth is, nobody wants them .... they might do in *another* twenty years time, I suppose. But I need to think about moving on, after the next two years, during 2010. Which means decluttering things, getting rid of student-type furniture, preparing for the house renovation/sale.

Possibly its my age? If I died, my sister would be the one who had to go through my stuff. How much would she keep? Not the magazines! Will *I* ever look at them again? I'll leaf through them before I get rid of them.... I may scan a few covers. But that'll be it. Do I want to take them into retirement with me? Absolutely not! Will they fit into an (at most) two bed apartment? No, they won't. Its not just the magazines, I've been thinking that way about everything. These years are like a springboard, I'm bouncing up and down on the diving board preparing for my next, spectacular dive, soaring up ready to splash into the water and scramble out so I can do it again and again. I flirted with the consumerist society with these magazines and trinkets, and I don't *like* it, its not really me. I really like travelling light.

Oh my word. I never put it quite like that before - thanks for your comment, Bob, that's actually really clarified some things!

I can be so dozy sometimes .... I've been waiting for totesport to give me my withdrawal - saw the money that went out to them, and I've been marking time on it. On examining the account, I've just realised that my withdrawal back to me is listed *before* my payment to them! How *terribly* considerate of them! :rotfl: and how un-alert of me :o Anyway, brings my total for the £1000 in 100 days challenge up to £278.67. Still not there, but qype will be finished today, thats another £50, that gets me abreast of where I should be.

    Today's list is:
    - superdrug - just seen there's a 10p sale there, might have a shufti.done, nothing there.
    - check out a couple of local shops to finish off my qype numbers, ones that I want to see anyway. done, got several prepared.
    - buy blinds! Finally .... for the kitchen and the ensuite-to-be, to start reclaiming my privacy. bought them! one is six feet long, *that* was a bit difficult on the bus.
    - post little Amazon sale. done.
    - do those qype entries! £50 at stake here.
    - done the scratches well yeah, when I was writing the list :rotfl:
    - the above are the essentials (plus Tesco for pesto, not really moneysaving :rotfl: done ) anything else while I'm DVD-ing Atlantis episodes I missed will be a bonus, click throughs etc.

EDIT: just done my "where is the money and how much is there" for the end of the month, and am pleased. I funded a euro spreadbetting account, I had two weeks holiday over Christmas and New Year, and I paid my tax of just over £2k, and I'm only £800 or so down (okay, £790.74 :o:rolleyes::j). I'm quite pleased with that.

Today, I'm pretending to be a big spender. I'm off to London to meet my sister and go have a look at the Yves Saint Laurent artworks, which are being auctioned later in the month in Paris, I think. Might well do something else afterwards, whether its hopping over to the Royal Academy, or window shopping at Simpson's.

I've done the scratches, I've got my email from qype that I've done enough reviews for the virgin voucher (plus a couple more, to show willing) and thats it for today!

Hope everyone has a good one.
