Hi Dragon, how are you?
You don't know where you are for Christmas yet  you're a stronger woman than I am! Actually, we have the family get together on Boxing Day, and I've no idea how/if thats happening. It'll be a *really* quiet Christmas without that. I may put another bottle of wine in that order
I know I go on about my mum a lotbut she's elderly, and I worry
The delivery - well, it won't be the worst thing in the world to have to go to the local Waitrose on foot, I'll get a taxi back .... I'd rather not, thats all.
Just done my 4th hour, one more to go early this evening, and I managed to buy my train ticket online. Off to post the Amazon parcel now, then a cuppa tea while I browse the threads. And possibly a marathon/snickers bar for later!
We want to go and see family Karma (my parents are in their 70's and Dad has Leukemia), the point is if Dr Dragon gets this temp job then he would be working up until 5pm on Christmas Eve and would be back at 8.30 on the 27th, with Dr Dragon having to do all the driving we would be ending up travelling Christmas morning and leaving 24 hours later - that is really not fair on him - my parents do understand that finding a job is more important than us cooking Christmas lunch for them!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Sorry to hear about your dad, Dragon; but yes, that amount of travelling fitted into what's supposed to be a holiday is not good. Much better to go another time and for it to be more enjoyable.
Still not gone to the post office - just playing silly beggars with the brown sticky tape!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I do that
Sounds like you've had a really productive few days while I've been off on the skive. Great that you've managed to use the Qype voucher for something as useful as a microwave. I've got a spare one somewhere (:o) which I'd have happily posted on to you as it'll undoubtedly end up on Freecycle, but it's really basic, so the Panasonic one sounds like a great idea, and a good price, they're usually well over £100. We used to have a combi one (I think we probably still do somewhere) and it was fab, we hardly ever used the real oven.
Dragon, I agree that it's just not worth all the stress and hassle. Your parents are probably of that age where they can't see what all the fuss is about at Christmas anyway, and if they're anything like my parents then they'd rather see you 'properly' for a few days than a rushed, stressed fleeting visit, and Christmas is only one day out of 365. Can you get to see them for New Year or will the job cover that too?0 -

Job not happening, but my parents have said they would prefer to see us for a while at Easter instead.Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Aw, Panda, thank you anyway! I wouldn't have been buying one anyway, but since I got such a big wodge that actually had to be spent, a microwave seemed the most helpful thing - last time, I bought the box set of Stargate SG1 Season 10! But I have £70-80, seems a lot to spend on just *stuff*.
Me doing a lot .... hmmm... well, I did a lot of paid work yesterday, but nothing much today, lots of half done things - my nephew can't see me Saturday, bingo port still not reached the next Amazon level, the next bingo thing at ipoints is slowing my computer, I *still* haven't done the partybets ice hockey thing.
However! I have done stuff in the garden for two days running, cutting back, getting walls visible again, that sort of thing. Very happy about it!
And omigod, I've just seen what time it is, this is mad, I'll feel *so* bad tomorrow.
Okay, hope all are recovering from the lurgies that have been afflicting everyone, that no one has their electric cut off, that everyone is warm and snug.
Off to snugness now. G'night all.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Nope! I don't! Just preparing for trading times now, so I'm about to shut down mse for the duration. Then I'm off to London to work, and um, thats it really. I'll be taking some Christmas cards to start writing them in downtime there, I'll do a bit of food shopping ... that really is it.
Hope everyone has a good day. xx2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Didn't do any trading yesterday morning after all  its not the fear now, its the focus. So, as I have been saying to myself for the past 25 years, I must meditate, to help me stay in the here and now. And also set my (watch) alarm every 15 minutes to get me to check what's going on - I'll lose some of the 5 minute signals, but the 15 minute signals are larger than my projected 20 points a day target, so that just doesn't matter in the greater scheme of things.
What I *did* do was mugpunt at partybets - they were about to take another £4 off me for a dormant account - it costs a lot to withdraw, and I hadn't sorted out the icehockey freebie, so I took a really low value bet on low odds on the footie - even if it cost me, it was less than the dormancy fee. But it won, and I gained 84p :rotfl: Must get to grips with the ice hockey
Didn't do half the things I thought I'd do in London, but I was reading quite a bit of a meditation book, so not wasted. The other thing about focus is that I need to prioritise. And get myself off the computer from time to time, which would help me prioritise. Virtuous circle, see ....:D
So the new plan: diary in at least an hour a day of cleaning/decluttering/gardening - they have to be all in together cos some days the weather will be disgusting and I won't be able to garden. It needs to be physical work away from the computer. Thats it - short on detail, long on need. Thank heavens the Nationwide have agreed to drop the collar on their tracker rates - even with the drop in my income *recently* that means I'm still just about breaking even. Just. Need to stop mucking about now, keeping in mind that I'd like to do structural work on the house *and* have a holiday next year.
So, today: going up to London again, on the train this time, for some free CPD. I had a mystery shop already booked in Islington, and I've just bagged one in Crawley as well, which between them almost pay for the train ticket, hurray.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
