You got me there, I'm a counsellor like you as you know and I STILL cannot resist the urge to slip into 'fixing' mode. Comes from my childhood and its hard to shake, I suppose hence becoming a counsellor but it was a big learning curve for me when I trained because I thought once I was trained there would be 'nothing I couldn't fix' :o:o

Like you said you don't need fixing just wanted someone to listen, especially after your mum clearly didn't. I hear now :o:D So big hugs from me

Awww :A :A :A I understand all too well, don't worry! I appreciate your concern and your posting, thank you!

Karmacat, I've only just seen this on here and am sorry about your father :o:o Hope you have a peaceful evening :A

Thanks! Thats just what I need, actually, a peaceful evening - I've got some easy pasta on the bubble, going to lounge around for a bit, and then off into the garden again, as long as its still sunny.

I feel a *lot* better now. There isn't quite a smiley for that, but support and (dodgy) hugs along with a bit of a cry have done the trick.

    xx

That sounds like a nice evening, although a bit of choccy in there too might make it a bit better ;):D

Couldn't resist coming back to wander about for a while .... thats a lovely way of putting it, El, thank you. My dad was a good man, and a *nice* man - toddlers would flock to him at family parties, which says a lot, I think.

Thank you, Snaggles.... that makes me tear up in a *good* way - there are happy memories too. I slept well last night, thank heavens, I'm still taking extra care of myself, but I'm more or less set to go.

I hope everyone has a good day - and thanks again to all who posted for me yesterday, it meant a lot.

Spoke to my mum, and I really wish I hadn't. I'm a headcase because I'm upset at the anniversary of my father's death. Silly me.

Sorry to go back to this point, but I took the decision not to speak to people for that very reason on my Dads day this year. I didn't want anyone telling me how they felt, or how I should feel. It was sort of selfish of me, but hey - I needed to do MY thing, and MY thing was not to ring my sister, or my Nana but to just allow myself to wallow in my own emotion for a bit.

Sometimes doing what is right for us is difficult, but we have to do it, whatever it is. These days are not supposed to be easy - we would perhaps be a little disappointed if they were. It is a sign of how much those people meant to us - and that is a very special thing and something to embrace and be proud of.

    xx
