Update on the grocery challenge: had to decide whether to use Boots points to buy handcream, and so not get counted for the challenge, or buy lots at a poundshop but count it in... so I counted it all in....

Make up remover pads, hand cream, and more body cream... £2.97! And crisps for .99 on Friday :( I'm going to have to cook, I tell you, it won't be pretty.

It doesn't matter if it's pretty - as long as it tastes nice! ;)

Morning KC - hope you have a good day ahead. That eco house sounds amazing. There's a building near me at work with a 'green' roof - not sure exactly what plant it is but it's fascinating watching it change colour with the seasons, it's a lovely bronzey red at the moment.

Thanks redsquirrel - yep, the eco house was wonderful. The plant at the house you see might be the same - a lot of them used to be grass, but grass dries out, apparently, so now they're sedum - this was bought on a roll and simply pinned to a waterproof membrane fixed to the roof. Amazing! And I love sedum anyway.

WOW those Eco houses sound good...I'd like one from a planet and moneysaving point of view but I don't think they've ever built any around this area yet..but ..then again I haven't looked into it...perhaps I can do that once I've done all paperwork and decluttered this hovel...lol...got loads of stuff to do.I should spend less time on here really but that's easier said than done...lol

Yeah, this site is my spiritual home on the net, thats for sure. I've been a conservationist since I was 15 or so, I suppose - and I hadn't looked for any round here, to be honest, taxi, a leaflet came through my door and I went for it. Got to rush now to get to any of them for the morning's viewings. See you later!

Eco houses - mmmm. Would be great. We are thinking of getting some solar panels at some point but it is never the same adding stuff as having somewhere designed to be green.

Hypno - thanks for the insight into mystery shopping - like the idea of the free meals! :D Have one question - do they take up the references they ask for? I had a look at one of the application forms and they wanted two - I was rather stumped as to who I would put down - couldn't use work peple for various reasons, education too long ago :D, so that leaves personal ..... could find a few there but not sure I would want to explain to them what I was doing!!

Anyway still feeling guilty about being in pjs while everyone else is out there debt busting-saving the planet-being very industrious!

    I'm back!

Mizmir - I'm sorry I didn't think about the way I include travel time in the hourly rate, good thing Hypno spotted the boo boo.

Taxi - wasn't as good, to be honest. I wanted to go to a private house that was retrofitted, but when I got there, the notice had been taken down, and there was no activity at all that I could see - it had one of those big through lounges that you can see through right the way to the back garden. Then I went to the next on my list, which was a set of new town houses - they're green in that they've installed some green features - rainwater harvesting for the communal walkway at the back, grade A appliances (for half a million pounds, I should think so!!!!), some solar panels, dual flush toilets, dedicated cycle storage, and membership of a city car club scheme. I'll pm you the website where I found all the houses - its just a pdf you can download, it'll give you a good idea of what was out there. I've found an ecological soulmate, thats great!

There were 2 others still open this afternoon, but its *chucking* it down, really miserable, so I came home.

I did everything on my list! Just time to wind down a little bit now, and I've even got a treat cooking in the oven (and I finally used up some very, very old flour :o see what a grocery challenge does to me??) :T

I love eco houses, i always wanted one, and definately thought about solar panels...if ever i had the money, i would have one built from scratch.

It sounds like you are getting into the challenge as well.

I keep missing the mystery shops in my area...must try harder. x

Mizmir, I have never had references taken up for mystery shopping........I will give you a reference, anyway - Mrs Hypno, C/o DFW.......simple.

KC, sorry the eco houses were disappointing, and hope you can get to see the others soon for more ideas!

Well done on completing the list :T
