Hi Mizmir (hi RS)
Mystery shopping - It really varies as to what you're supposed to do. I've been to local towns to open bank accounts, to inspect government agencies, to shop; I get a lot of financial ones. There was one for a bingo place recently, but I couldn't do that, they wanted people who'd done it before. These recent phone calls, because they follow a pattern, are dead easy - they net a very decent hourly rate, around £15 an hour once you're in the swing. But most of them are appalling hourly rates - £2 an hour, anyone? The thing for me is that I'm self employed, but I work with clients, there's only so much you can do in a week - I don't want another job, especially where I might be seen by a client in my existing work, and I also need the flexibility of not having a regular part time job with regular hours. So getting £2 an hour for that time is better than getting nothing at all.
If that describes you, self employed and can't do any more in the main job but have some spare time to earn cash in, then think about it, for sure. It works for me, tho it would have to be really special these days for me to go to another town, on public transport that takes forever.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks for mentioning the list, mizmir - just got in there with the last contact one that needed to be done. Printing can be done any old time tonight, as I'm not going out. My god, I'll have done 100% of that list! I'm dead impressed with myself!
I'm absolutely inspired at the mo by the eco house I went to see this afternoon, it was so, so beautiful - polished concrete floors, a sedum roof, recycled glass kitchen surfaces, chipped rubber tyres for the patio, bathwater recycled to flush the toilet, all sorts of things, it was just wonderful. My brain is running at a thousand miles an hour...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks Karma for the info.
Will probably leave it for now - too many other things to do and I worked out a list of bookies for MB and there are lots to go - certainly better rate per hour and I know what I am doing.0 -
Ooh, Mizmir, I've just seen on your thread about skybet tennis. Matched betting gives a much greater profit at a much better rate per hour, so if its a choice between one or the other, go with the m.b.ing for sure. Maybe I could pick your brains about how to m.b. sports other than tennis, pretty please?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I was just posting on your diary! Hiya! This thread is a bit long to read from the beginning now, I'm afraid. Well, actually, thats a good thing....
Anyway, here's today:
- print out all 5 of next week's mystery shops. done, that took *forever*.
- print out some work stuff for tomorrow (might as well, while I'm fiddling about with the printer) done, a while ago.
- better leave a notification with my energy supplier. done. I don't quite believe it, cos they asked for a job number, and I don't have one, its just a meter reading..... well, I tried.
- do a few more comps if I can, particularly the Nectar comp for a holiday, silly not to. done Nectar, and done all I'm going to of the rest.
- update sig for the grocery challenge. done - wasn't very hard, after all!
- pack some lunch-type stuff, and I'm off to the eco houses! done - only saw one cos its chucking it, came back to play on here.
Hope everyone has a lovely day - its *very* windy here right now, but plenty of blue in the sky.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning KC!
Mizmir, don't rule out the mystery shopping - it is amazing what you can get done in a lunch-hour!! For example, tomorrow I have a lunchtime visit at a bank that is literally 2 doors away from my office.....won't take more than 20 mins in total and pays me £9.00.........not bad for a little effort.
A couple of weeks ago I did a visit to a mobile phone shop, again in my lunch hour - £15 easy money, no hassle, thank you very much!!!!
So, pick and choose your visits, and they are like buses......no suitable ones for ages then loads coming your way. The best ones are meals out - We have had them where the remit is "go to XXXXX restaraunt, buy a three course meal for two people with a cocktail and a bottle of wine" All expenses paid, plus a £10 fee on top...........urm......do I really need to think about that one :rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I forgot that some people work near the places that need to be mystery-shopped! Sorry! Its true, the reason that some of them average £2 an hour for me is that I need to factor in so much travel time - even at a bank, which is most of the ones I do, as hypno says it only takes 15 minutes or so from getting in the door to getting out again; there's the printing, which is no big deal, and the inputting, which once you're used to it is also no big deal. If you're at all nearby, it *is* excellent value.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Update on the grocery challenge: had to decide whether to use Boots points to buy handcream, and so not get counted for the challenge, or buy lots at a poundshop but count it in... so I counted it all in....
Make up remover pads, hand cream, and more body cream... £2.97! And crisps for .99 on FridayI'm going to have to cook, I tell you, it won't be pretty.
