June - Pin Money Savings Challenge

I've been following all the challenges for a few months now and have now got a grand total of £500 in my savings account, a first for me as I'm always overdrawn! This has been achieved by cutting back on food wastage, bogof's, cooking from scratch and spending more wisely in general. I got £100 refund from Next for returning a faulty rug I paid £300 for and re-ordering the same one which had been reduced to £200. I changed left over holiday money from this year and last year back to sterling, £55. I sold some old stuff on ebay and made about £67. I'm expecting a baby in September and have used our Tesco vouchers which we had saved up, and special offers to get lots of baby things, so I'm getting well stocked up and it's not cost me anything so far. I'm planning on a long maternity leave so I'll need to save a lot more between now and when they stop paying me but with the help of this site I think I will be able to do it. Thanks for all the inspiration everyone.0

As its Thursday its the start of my financial week so I'm starting this challenge now. This month I'm hoping I won't have to dip into my PIN money as I really want to save up some money to buy a chest freezer (currently using Argos as a guide price) AND a foodsaver (QVC unless I can find one on ebay).
Ontop of that I want to be able to send off for my learners licence this month as well. If I could drive , even though with me as a learner on the insurance costing an extra £200+ or so for fully comprehensive, I'm sure I would be able to "pay for myself" at least in sanity as I wouldn't have to put up with OH moaning about going shopping at Tescos or when I want to go the farmers markets etc
I might just be applying for a tesco credit card when my capital one offer is due to expire, an extra one for OH that he could use solely for Petrol would add up nicely in pointsespecially if he was disciplined enough to pay the money to the card straight away (a smack around the back of the head each time he spent on it maybe enough of an insentive :rotfl:)
I've come up with a way of helping DD to save too. Every week when I sit down on a Wednesday night/Thursday to sort out my money and put any "spare" into PIN I swap all my coppers etc for her silver, £1 coins etc. Just by me doing that she's managed to pay in £24 in cash and another £30 cheque from us for money we owed her!
Anyhows, opening balance
PIN Cash : £6.03p :jCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Gosh, just had to hunt for this!
Anyway, as already mentioned in the grocery shopping challenge, I just got in.
First off I got some petrol. I was budgeting £27 every 2 months, but now I'm back working for a living I changed it to £25 every month. However, I got one of those 5p off per litre coupons and spent £25.89 rounding it up to the nearest litre. The money off came to £1.60, but my vPMS was 71p.
Then I went and got my shopping, which actually went over budget. But with the petrol saving above, by using the credit balance on my Barclaycard - which will now be cut up again - and by saving £3.67 on BOGOFs and other offers, my total vPMS for today was £21.66.
My PMS are virtual rather than tangible because I'm still living in credit land.
Please see sig for updated vPMS for month so far. Ta much. *Bows and leaves*spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -

I've just realised - my June PMS stands at -£5.50
£5.00 because Amazon are selling my exact model Kenwood for five quid less.
£0.50 because I forgot to use a coupon.
Had to rush round to get my monthly shop done before my neighbour finished their shopping (they give me a lift even though they're not actually my neighbours any more) so didn't have time to browse. I'll have saved a few bob using store brands and buying a couple of other things in more bulk than I usually do but I didn't have time to actually compare prices all the way down an aisle to see how much I saved.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. £0.50 because I forgot to use a coupon. .squeaky - you *gain* PMS money by "using" the coupon not forgetting to use it.
Also, did you take the Kenwood back to the store and then order the £5 cheaper one from Amazon? In which case, that *is* Pin Money~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
