  • I just had to pop back on to tell you what a sad old f**t I am. I'm so happy because the house is silent except for the WM & DW, the kitchen is clean & tidy & the draining board is clear intstead of being cluttered & best of all I can do my ironing without moving all the cake paraphinalia thats been cluttering a full length of work surface for 4 weeks. All this for nearly a week, I'm going to be in heaven.

Happy birthday plumduff55 and Pen Pen. :bdaycake:

:bdaycake: to all those that I've missed since I've been AWOL :o

And :j :j to all those that need them for celebrations and jubilations of one sort or another (wedding anniversary, half term :D).

I honestly thought this day would never come. It's been such an exhausting first half of term in my new school. It's an infants school that's in Special Measures and the head, well, is an "interesting" lady. She doesn't discipline any child that is sent to her and the disciplining is all done by the Learning Mentor and deputy. If they were little angels, then I wouldn't mind, but one of my class (a 6yr old girl) has "lost control" of her feet and a) kicked and broken a toilet door and b) kicked a strong boy in the ribs. Obviously, I can talk to her mum BUT it's sometimes nice to have the backup from the head.

This last week, I've been observed by the head and deputy, swiftly followed by two men from the Local Authority to check that we were making progress. Thankfully, my nerves didn't get the better of me (I hate being watched!!!) and they were really pleased with my teaching. During my drama lesson, I did have one boy who sat in the middle of the hall and refused to move. Grrrrrrr! Thankfully, the inspector said that "you'll always get one like that". I'm so relieved that he recognised that!!!

Anyway, today is another action packed day. We're going to see the Tigers play against Worcester. My parents aren't going, so we're using their season tickets to take a couple of friends. Then it's back to the friends' house to watch England.

Tomorrow I'm going to Cambridge to meet up with two of my old uni housemates. (third one is very pregnant and so doesn't feel comfortable moving around!) I don't know where we're going to eat yet, but there won't be a problem getting a table in any restaurant - I hope!! :p

    Have a good day everyone.

    Vicky

PS Harduphester - I love reading your blog! It's really opened my eyes! ;)

    Morning all

happy birthdays to Pen-Pen and Plumduff
welcome back Kyle - full reports expected - your poor mum's been sadly abused by a certain Aussielass in your absence :)
    HH enjoy your free time
hugs to anyone else and go easy on yourself if you're bunged up, jetlagged, or carrying special bumps

Went to the Imperial War Museum yesterday - brilliant - I am a pacifist and thought it would be a bit Glory Glory and Toys for Boys but it wasn't like that at all. Loved the Children exhibition which was perfect for dd's project at school and the domestic stuff. We did do a bit of the Holocaust exhibition. dd is 11 and the programme tells you that it's not really suitable ofr children under 14. she was keen to see it though and the lovely guide explained to her what to expect and how to get out if she had had enough. There are two levels so he suggested that she do the first level and then come out and decide if she wanted to go on. I have to say I struggled with it and she asked to come out halfway around level one. It's very good though and does explain the background and history leading up to it. She talked about it afterwards saying that she saw it as a warning to ensure that things like that don't happen again which I guess is the point.

On a lighter note Bremner Bird and Fortune was brilliant. We got there pretty early so they put us in the seats around the stage but we didn't like them so moved to the main audience bit so you won't see us on telly. Ddad left this am to go to a play with his sister and wil come back either tonight or tomorrow for a couple of hours. he will then go to my dbros for the rest of his visit. A factor in this is that dbro has sky and ddad is a motor racing fan. dd and I will spend today getting ready for our trip to blacpool on monday, clearing the decks and taking part in the Great Use Up the Contents Of The Freezer Before Christmas Challenge
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Morning everyone havent been on for a few days.

Happy birthday Penelope Penguin and Plumduff - hope you enjoy your days.

Had a great day at the races on Wednesday came home £100.00 up! Took the kids to Blackpool on Thursday night to see the lights which they really enjoyed.

Not much planned for the weekend except cleaning, tidying and food shopping later today. Got to sort paperwork out as well before it all mounts up again. Exciting times!

Hope everyone has a great Saturday whatever your doing. x x

    Hi everyone!
Hugs to all those who need them.
Haven't been around much as it's just been one of those busy weeks topped off by a very non OS meal of fish and chips last night:D :D
Am back at work this morning waiting for the masses to arrive so have snuck in here for a quick peek. Other than putting the recycling out and munching on OH's hm granola for brekkie have done didly squat OS today!!
When I left OH and the small person were buried under a mound of halloween decorations...the small person has been investing his pocket money in such delights over the last couple of weeks with a few "tasteful" contributions from him parents...luminous plastic bones anybody!! If you have a Tschibo anywhere near you they're doing a set of 4 terracotta pumpkin nightlight holders for 2.90. I've split mine between the small person, my niece and a couple of my pagan friends. Oh well the house will look truly spooky when I get back:eek:
OH has cooked a chicken in preparation for making a pie for taking to his parents tomorrow. He tells me that's a far more cost effective way of getting the chicken for the pie filling. I suppose it'd never occurred to me...I'd have bought chicken breasts. He really has caught me up in the os stakes  ;)
The small person and I are going to hopefully get another lot of Chrimbo shopping done this afternoon which will mean it's nearly done [mind you it still won't get wrapped till the last moment as I loathe doing that part...need a big glass of wine to ease the trauma:rotfl: :rotfl: ]
Other than that it's a reduced Mr T quiche for supper and a hefty dose of Strictly.
    Have a great day peeps!!
    Aril
PS Why did the dinosaur cross the road?
Because chickens weren't invented! [sorry one of the small person's!!]
