OS Thread Saturday 20th October 2007

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 20th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Well this is the first night in over 2 weeks I have been up at this hour of the morning.............went to bed just after 10pm, but no way could I sleep...that will teach me to nap after supper!!!!

Its quite cool, but not too bad, the heating comes on if the temperature drops below a certain level and I have a fleece blanket round my legs to keep warm.

OH has to go for his flu injection this morning, I cannot have it am allergic to the meduim they put the thing in........so I will just have to have the flu and hope for the best.

Nothing planned for the weekend, next weekend will be different its the bowls dinner and I have to do my bit with flowers again........

Off to surf the net and see if I can sort out my blog....it would not let me on earlier today.
Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Wow csarina, you're an early bird today! I hope you manage to get some more sleep.

I havent been to bed yet.....my mind's still buzzing from work but I'll have to get some sleep soon as we have to leave the house at 8.15am to watch ds1 play rugby. _pale_

I haven't had a chance to post in the daily in the last week as I've been up to my eyes in real life......nothing exciting, just the usual, cooking, cleaning, homeworks, work etc, but lately it's been feeling like I don't have a moment to myself.

Anyway, I didn't come on here to moan. Today will be the rugby match in the morning. Apparently it's an important one, just for a change. Hotdogs when we get home (left over sausages from tea last night). Then I need to get stuck in and do some baking as the cupboards are bare.

Sorry if I have missed anything important in the last week and hugs to everyone who needs one. I will try to catch up over the weekend....kids permitting!

What I have noticed are a few celebrations.

Happy anniversary to the Churchmice, have a fabulous weekend!
Mrs Mac, congrats on the weight loss.
Welcome back to the Kyles, you've been missed.
Belated birthday wishes to Ivyleaf for yesterday, I hope you had a good day. Also very Happy Birthday wishes to Penelope Penguin for today. I hope you have a lovely birthday weekend.

Morning all - what early risers!

CSARINA - hope you don't get the flu. I have only had the jab once and was ill three weeks later so I haven't had it since. The cold I have just got over is the first time I've been ill in years.

    Happy Birthday PENELOPE PENGUIN!!:bdaycake:

Welcome home KYLE - your Mum has been updating us. Hope you had a fantastic time!

AUSSIE - I loved the photo. What a big crane!

Well, MIL is still hanging on. SIL flew out yesterday (she and FIL live in Cyprus) and phoned up very upset last night. The family has not known much illness and tragedy (not like mine, we've had terrible things happen) and she said she was so unprepared for what her Mum would look like and how upset her Dad would be. I said that it would be helping a lot that she was just 'there' for them , but she had had a difficult day, poor thing. Everyone is on hold for Sunday when the doctors will take MIL off the ventilator then decide on the next step. She had a massive brain haemorrhage (sp?), apparently, and they have been told to expect the worst. FIL is usually such a strong and quite arrogant chap but he has fallen apart. MIL has looked after him so well all these years that he is lost without her now and dreading it if she doesn't make it. Bless him, he even took some of her perfume to the hospital and put some behind her ears. No-one expected him to be like this. The phone hasn't stopped ringing with people trying to find out what's going on.

DH thought he would be working this weekend but he finished the job he was doing sooner than expected, so has the weekend off. He'll make a decision about going to Cyprus tomorrow when we know more about the situation there. Today, we are going shopping round the charity shops. It's ages since we've been to our favourite town to do that and we both enjoy it. We'll have lunch out so it will be nice not to have to cook and it means I can settle down and watch Strictly and the Rugby. I want to do some baking before we go - have promised DGS some of AMIE'S Weetabix Brownies, DGD some fairy cakes and DH some plum crumble! Apart from that, I have no housework pressing which is a lovely feeling that won't last long!

Well, off to have a shower. Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday. I wonder how JACKIEO, SMOKY and PP are doing?

Morning. Looks to be a nice weekend. I have 4 days off and very welcome they will be too. No idea what we are doing today. I think there will some shopping involved. I need to sort out my computer as well. Kids have been down loading all sorts of rubbish on here and it's time to get rid of it.

Time for a pot of coffee, walk the dog and get a fresh egg from the chicken house for breakfast. Hopefully it will be only 5-10 minutes old. :D

Cheers all. Come on England EnglandFlagSmall.gif

I've just taken hubby to the station, he's hoping to finish work in time to watch the F1 qualifying, if not I'll tape it for him.
Chaos reigned yesterday afternoon as the lodger departed to stay with friends for a few days. She wanted to catch the 4:27 train, but wasn't packed at 4. In the end she cut it so fine that I had to carry one of her heavy suitcases over the railway bridge for her or she'd have missed the train.
As soon as I got home I saw the cake that she's been making for the last month sat on the side!!!
She wanted me to drive it to Reading for her, but I refused, mean aren't I, but it would have taken me 45mins each way in the Friday rush hour.
I made the weetabix loaf thursday for work, but made it with apple & blackberries & today I making one with bananas as someone has given me a bag of speckly ones. I'm really looking forward to a few days being able to get into my kitchen & on my computer when ever I like.
Hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    churchmouse enjoy your weekend away
blairweech thanks for explaining, i was brought up with my grandparents on a farm, the farm was part of a large orphanage we had here, there were cows, pigs and sheep and at the weekend when the milk wasnt put through the cooler it would be kept in big bowl where you could skim off thick cream, no fridges then but no tummy bugs either, anyway wild animal or not i dont like to think of anything suffering
hester i dont know how you cope with that lodger of yours, i hope she realises how lucky she is

    hugs to all xx
