NST March: Marching to a different beat

  • Fmness: Thank you for reminding me we are all human. my NST ways have wobbled this month with pressures outside my control and with it went the SW planning. Back on track now ;) Hope you enjoy London.

Yesterday was drainingly spendy - but planned. A much needed and fun catch up with friends. Money from Screenwise came through which has been converted to e-vouchers against commercial winter period. Managed to get lots of laundry out on the line so now I have lots of washing to iron and put away today :D:D
As I used washable nappies with both kids, I took the plunge to try out washable pads from Totsbots for me. It seemed a bit hypocrital to not send toxic plastics of nappys to Landfill, then wrap 25+ towels in plastic a month and send them to Landfill. Plus it's costing a mini fortune every month so if these work DD is willing to try them to because they arrived and she loves the look of them. Will get more if they work as well as the reviews claim, and will have saved hundreds in the long run.
Today is an NSD, formfiller of a day!
    Have a good one.

Boy sorted out his mortgage yesterday (I'm really impressed at how sensible he's being about all this) and has an entry date of middle of May. We really have to start getting his things all sorted out especially as C and I are going to Paris at the beginning of April for two weeks and Northumberland at the beginning of May. He doesn't need to move straight away but he has so much stuff (read rubbish that needs throwing out!) and basically doesn't know where to start so guess who's going to be landed with the job? However, he said to me yesterday that he has about £300 worth of Amazon vouchers that he's been given as presents over a period of time and would I make a list of things that he'll need (kettle etc) and he and I can look for the best value. That together with the moving in boxes I'm making up for him should see him sorted initially. Need to make a list of basics.
Anyway, off to collect the prescriptions and collect a few little bits.
    Have a good day everyone.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Toni's friend remember to let friends, relatives and neighbours know he's got his own place - will probably be inundated with offers of furniture. Problem is turning down the ones he doesn't want.

I have a feeling someone volunteered last month for April, but can't remember who :(

Struggling to be motivated this month, although spends haven't gotten out of control, thankfully. I'm just feeling fed up of treading water re money - just as I feel I'm getting somewhere some other problem costing £££/ ££££ crops up :( And I can't seem to get OH fully on board - in principle he is, in reality he's not....

Enough of my moaning! I pledge that I shall check in more in April and keep a better eye on all budgets!

On a positive note, I sold our old kitchen worktops (granite) so need to update my sig and will pay the money off OH's CC once they've been collected :) Also means more room in the garage :)x

I'd be really interested to hear how you get on DancingDragons; I normally use a mooncup for the same reason, I hate waste and on-going expense! We're going to cloth nappy little one when they get here this summer, but I don't feel comfortable about using the cup for the first few months after giving birth so was thinking of trying some washable pads. I try and use Natracare products where needed but they are 'spensive...

Not an NSD here, £2 on hospital parking. Annoyingly I had the change put aside for this but the payment machine only took cards. I go to three different hospitals and a community centre (plus the GP surgery) for my antenatal appointments and I need different payment methods for all of them!
  • Haven't been doing so well as a series of illness-related spend days racked up last week (cough medicine, honey, tins of chicken soup etc), plus I didn't plan groceries so well, so needed to do a few top-up shops for things like salt and garlic. Really annoyed with myself for falling down so badly on the first month I've tried it, but trying not to beat myself up about it as it's a good reminder it's not as easy as it looks! Rome wasn't built in a day and all that. Writing off March but aiming to start again in April!

    Hello,

back from the funeral back home and not really caught up here yet.

Lost track of SFD but managed to convert back loads of Euros for a decent rate (my parents don't do bank transfer and give me more Euros (birthday money, flight payback) than I can spend as they never let us pay for anything). So the CC (the unexpected flight, hotel, and the flights I booked for my parents at the start of the year) is paid off.

I also still have enough saved for DS birthday present, payments for various parties and a possible holiday booking for the summer and I won't have to use the CC for that. Seems like were are finally getting to the stage were we break even rather than making one step fwd and two back.

Hope the easter holidays with being at home more won't be too costly

    Catch up later
