Well done for upsizing your recipe.  Large scale cooking can be nerve wracking let alone when you're serving and selling it to the public!
any sign of the dodgy builder?  My elusive gardener has done a fair bit of work this week but rain has stopped play.  He asked for a big chunk of his payment but I gave him less and said I'd pay the rest on completion.  Hoping that tactic will entice him back next week.

Still radio silence @Blackcats I’ll send another message tomorrow. I’ve just been looking at my working week, I had a full day off last Sunday and my next full day off will be Tuesday, however it’ll be spent at the hospital in Inverness. After Tuesday next full day won’t be until Sunday. One of the team members s on holiday at the b&b so it’s one off holiday cover.
I did have a win on the pbs but that has been reinvested.
While we’re in Inverness, we’re hoping to get Gary Golf a new exhaust, it does sound very boy racer at the moment!
The fencers have nearly finished, very impressed with how quickly they’ve done it. Really they’ve only got the rails to go up in a few places and we’re stock proof. Hopefully no more cows and sheep in the garden.

It will be great not to keep having the palava of the neighbour's cattle in your garden.

Well that was an eventful over night stay. Arrived at the b&b and felt as welcome as a f**t in a wetsuit. Owner looked through her diary grunted we were in the bedroom located behind her, thrust some keys into our hands and left. I did mention to OH there wasn’t any instructions on breakfast. However we left in search of an evening meal. Found a very busy surf and turf type eatery. A table was reserved for 7.45 so we went upstairs to the bar and had a couple of cocktails before returning to the restaurant

Had to wait to order drinks and meal but did get it placed. So after 20 minutes we were getting a bit twitchy and people who came in after us were getting served. 45 minutes later we enquired if we were likely to be getting any starters. They apologised said we wouldn’t be charged for the starters and got a free drink each. We both work in hospitality and are aware that on occasions things can and do go wrong. However if this had been me I would’ve been keeping an eye on that table and tried my dammedness to make sure everything went out smoothly. The plates were taken away.
So after another 30 minute wait, OH had just got up to leave when the mains appeared. I was having chicken breast, I think my chicken had been to weight watchers as it was the smallest breast I’ve seen (probably since puberty) and not particularly tasty. OH had lamb and he said it lacked flavour. All in all not to be repeated. We left and went to a pub across the road. It was like walking into something from the Wild West, everyone (all 4 of them) turned to have a good look. We thought we were about to die and just needed the tumble weed to roll through. We had a very speedy drink and left. Calling in at Tesco to get some Pringles as we were still ravenous.

At 1am the fire alarm started beeping. OH could only hear it when he had his hearing aids in. It was like torture. At 3 am a klaxon sounded and the owner finally appeared to sort it out. Roll onto breakfast, we wanted to be up and off early to try and get Gary Golf booked in somewhere. We found the dining room but it wasn’t set up for breakfast. We also found the bell on the wall to contact the owner (wish I knew about that at 1am). No she wasn’t doing breakfast and we’d booked room only. Apparently most guests use the bakery round the corner. Said bakery was heaving and no where to sit. We gave it up as a bad job.
3 garages later we managed to get Gary booked in. Big shout out to Halfords who sorted him out and pointed out he needs 4 new tyres but it’s an odd size so they need to be ordered in. Tried a few other tyre places but they all said the same thing. OH will contact a Skye garage and get it sorted.
In other exciting (but expensive) news, we’ve discovered that you can fly from Inverness to Majorca (only operates June to October) so we’re off in June 2025 for a weeks holiday.
Hospital appointment went ok, will need to wait for results. I’m back at the opticians next week to double check the new prescription before I order new glasses. My vision is a lot better than it was so it’ll be interesting to see how that goes.

Oh my goodness what a terrible overnight stay.  B&B owner sounds awful - she needs to consider a different job!

It’s our wedding anniversary today, 32 years!  I’m working tonight so we’re going out next week for a meal at a restaurant we haven’t been to before.
