Well today has been a very spendy day.  Went to Sports Direct and purchased some new walking trainers, OH got some as well and some steel toe capped trainers for work.  We each got a new badminton racket (my handle was a bit dodgy) and bought DD2 some new rugby boots for Christmas.  Went to Costco, that was really expensive but everything purchased was things we would buy anyway. Also (whispers) booked a holiday to Turkey next year just for us 2 for a week.  That probably wasn't necessary but we have decided to cancel our weekend at the races to go there.  We may as a whole family (girlfriends, boyfriends, babies) go on holiday to Ibiza this time next year.  We need to discuss as a family.

Thanks everyone for your input I'll let the DDs read and then they can make their own minds up.  A work colleague has been brilliant in showing DD1 how overpaying will work, she'll share this info with DD2.  My accountant has also been an absolute star (she found both houses) and said she will find builders and plumbers for any work that needs doing which is marvellous.

Went out to a friends last night for a meal and had puppy cuddles.  Tonight is the first night we've not been out and I'm ready to wallow in the bath and have an early night.  Tomorrow is wedding part 1, we should all be together for the first time since June.  Saturday wedding part 2 (fancy dress) and drive home Sunday.

The other thing to factor in to the fixing period decision is the cost of arrangement fees. The more often your mortgage has to renew the more often you pay the fee.

I only fixed for 2 years because I want to potentially move by then so 5 wouldn't work for me. But I personally would prefer the surety of knowing how much I am going to pay. Is it a home they can grow into if they wish too? are they like to want to move in that time? is there likely to be a change in circumstances that may effect eligibility? i.e children?

However most mortgage products are portable so this isn't usually an issue

I can’t see them moving and both are single at the moment. Both houses, I would say, are starter homes so potentially they might move in the next 10 years.

This holiday is drawing to a close. Been to the wedding part 1 & 2. Currently in the pub watching the rugby with all the off spring.  I’m keeping an eye on the roads as a lot have been closed today due to the weather and I’ve posted on fb re our route to see how the land lies.

Can’t remember and apologies if I’ve already said but we’ve bought a little car to take back up with us which will be used for work and taking the dogs out. It was proving quite expensive for OH running the pick up so this makes sense and I can use it for my b&b work if it’s home. Whilst it’s been parked up all the brakes and discs have been done. OH has sorted out tax, insurance and got recovery on it. We’ll probably SORN the pick up.

Once home need to give the stove a good work out to check it’s over it’s teething issues. I need to cancel the hotel we booked for May next year as we’re going to Turkey instead. OH needs to check out how much leave he has left (or not) so we can decide what to do at Christmas.

I need to look at the wages, as they’ve been paid whilst we were away and may have been nibbled at. I’ve paid the deposit on the holiday on cc so need to pay that off and save up the balance which is due in February. Then need spending money.

Made it back. Roads were a bit scary in places and did hit a couple of large floods. The little car did really well, OH drove that one and I was in the tank. Did a shop at lidl en route and stocked up the freezer. Really annoyed when we got back. The gate to the house had been left open and the sheep have crapped all over. Not sure it was an accident it was open. We’ll get a post box set up and then put a chain and padlock on. This happened before we moved up as well.  He might end up with one less lamb as I have a large freezer!
Managed to unpack and put most things away. Haven’t done any computer things as my brain is fried from the 3.30 start.
DS2 has checked in to a Premier Inn he’s off to Amsterdam for 6 weeks work but got an early flight tomorrow. It saves leaving his car.

Sounds annoying re the gate issue.

Little car sounds sensible. Hope it makes life easier.

Came home to a speeding ticket (my bad) and a parking fine.  Paid the parking fine and done the paperwork for the ticket.  Will have to see if i can go on a speed awareness course or if its going to be a fine and points.  I was going to post said letter when i finished work but its just started raining.  I've lit the stove but going out to the stitchin' and B******g club tonight.  I think there's another lady going who crotchets so she might be able to show me some different squares.
Not quite sorted wages out for the rest of the month.  I'm hoping OH will get his wage slip from work as none of hie log ins were working.
Feel really tired but I'm going to make myself go.
