Christmas Colour schemes

I had gold & red on my artificial but lovely tree for a few years but 2 years ago i bought a new set of all sorts from webb ivory £20. They were all gold and white and look beautiful.....so we may have gold and white again this year or we may have gold & red...i'll let the kids decide...i loooooove christmas so much!
By the way, we put our decorations up on 1st December, is this sad or do others do this?0 -
We mainly have red and gold, with just white lights but we always have a little tree in the porch and that tends to change more - last year was blue and silver (my concession to OH
) but I have had clear glass and pearlescent in the past and that has looked lovely - also just silver and just gold.
I maybe take it a step too far and try and co-ordinate the wrapping paper and table decs as well - I say try, as the child in OH breaks free, despite his bah hum!!!!!!y and he wraps everything in a multitude of colours, despite me saying things like "how about just sticking to a couple of colours ?" or trying to hide the other wrapping. :rotfl:
Tree and decs all go up the first weekend in December (or the last one in November if I think I can get away with it)
Ooh, it's got me all xmassy just thinking about my colour schemes, time to order the turkey I think !:xmassign:I was going to take over the world but got distracted by something sparkly.......0 -
a bit of everything i like to call my colour scheme and tree decorating "organised chaos"
dont follow fashions and whats in anyway go with my own flow of things makes me happy and doesnt harm anyone
proud to be just me!0 -

I too am a bit sad and use the same colours for the wrapping paper and it all looks lovely then OH comes a long with his multi coloured presents and spoils it - Lol! He says he hates Xmas but he seems to spend hours wrapping his pressies just right with all sorts of ribbons etc.
Funnily enough I really felt when I got back with theses decorations quite Xmassy and I really wanted to see the decs up:rotfl:, so I will be counting down to 1st December, had to make do with writing out xmas cards instead.£23366/ £39206.92 DFD Nov 20160 -
very pale purple, silver and very pale blues and whites is my theme.. kind of a frosty, winter wonderland of white look. The tree is a good fake, dark green, the fairy lights are white (OH refused to have coloured or blinking lights) and there's a few baubels and tinsel on the tree - tasteful, rather than overdone (but then we don't have kids yet.. LOL, doing the tasteful while we can!). I also do displays - there are 2 candle brackets on the wall that take an arrangement each year of foliage like holly/ivy/fir tree branches, with some berries and cones.. sprayed silver and gold (so they look a bit frosty, not completely covered with it) with a white candle in the middle. From the brackets hang two long fairly wide ribbons - about 2-3 inches wide - which christmas cards are stapled to each year. Other than a wreath in the hall.. thats it, but then our place is really too small to do too much more. When we have children and hopefully more room, we'd like to have a real tree and continue the tradition his parents have of having real candles on the tree, which is something really special.

That colour scheme sounds lovely!!£23366/ £39206.92 DFD Nov 20160 -
We used to live in a very modern apartment and had a purple and silver tree there. Now we have moved to a victorian house we have red and gold in the lounge as it matches the colour scheme of the lounge.
However in the dining/play room we have multi colour fairy lights and all the 'toy style' decorations.Back Comping after a 2yr break! :j0 -
            Very simplistic here!
I like to be able to see the green foliage of the tree. It just has lots of white lights on, and lots of coloured wooden painted toys hanging on it. Ex-MIL always sends the boys packs of foil covered chocolates to hang on too.
I've got tree branch garlands with tiny red and gold decorations fixed in that I drape over the top of cabinets and down the bannister, and a nativity set that we put out on a small table.
I don't like baubels or tinsel, so I don't bother with those.Here I go again on my own....0 -
We are having a mostly purple with some silver tree as this matches the room and purple is my favourite colour. I'd have the tree up now if my bf would let me lol.0

LOL whereas I just go for what I like and don't give a stuff about fashionMade the mistake a couple of years ago (when I first got my own place) of buying all bronze/copper coloured dec's, only now it's not the 'in' colour so I'm really limited if I want anything new.
I've got bronze/copper too, and added in gold last year, you could try that OR go for rustic handmade decs and add the bronze/copper in, that's what I'm going for this year to give it a more 'natural' theme

One year, everything was just a bit mental and we were very unprepared - we had a bag of rosettes that the dogs had won at local shows and so popped these on the tree - very unfestive but it looked surprisingly good - I think you stick anything on a tree to be honest and it would look OK- if someone was having an especially MSE xmas, I think just white lights and a load of pine cones would look lovely...
...........might actually try that one on the little tree this yearI was going to take over the world but got distracted by something sparkly.......0
