Christmas Colour schemes

My tree & house are always v ott - the kids are given a free rein on the decorations  - Its not to everyones taste but the kids look forward to "doing christmas" from about september. I always have a large glass (glasses) of wine to hand & it gets re-arranged when they have gone to bed, funny thing is they don't seems to notice that bit. :rotfl:0

Since I moved out of home, i'd always had red & gold - very traditional. Last year was mine and OH's first Christmas and he's never been a fan of red & gold so I relented and we went for a 'jewel' theme. Deep red's, purples, greens and pinks. Sounds awful but it really looked lovely. For the first time we also had coloured lights. I'd always stuck to white as with red & gold I felt coloured would look tacky.
I'm very anal with my tree. Decorations must be evenly spaced, and if the cats knock one or two off, I can always tell you where it came from lol. No one dares touch my tree either during the decorating or after! :rotfl:
This year will be the jewel theme again as we only got the decorations new last year.
I'm soooo looking forward to putting up the tree. Only 6 weeks now till I can
After 4 years of heartache, 3 rounds of IVF and 1 loss :A - we are finally expecting our miracle Ki11en - May 2014 :j
And a VERY surprise miracle in March 2017!0 -
I usually love traditional colours like red, greens and golds but at our local garden centre (which always has the most fantastic Christmas display) I saw a tree dressed in rich jewel colours. Purples, blues and teals - looked really beautiful.
It had a various decorations including little birds and flowers all in the matching colours. Quite fancy something like that for a change.
No glass baubles or decorations allowed though. As lovely as they are they wouldn't last 5 minutes (and could be dangerous) with my 5 year old daughter, 3 cats and clumsy hubby!

So this year I may do something different. Nearly time to get the decs out of the cupboard and have a sort thru':xmastree::j :j0 -
Made the mistake a couple of years ago (when I first got my own place) of buying all bronze/copper coloured dec's, only now it's not the 'in' colour so I'm really limited if I want anything new.
I have noticed already quite a lot of copper and bronze decs in the shops as this was one of the schemes I considered:xmassmile£23366/ £39206.92 DFD Nov 20160 -

I have lilac and silver and only white lights.......0

Our artificial green tree has gold and red decorations - since having the children there have been little extra ones added, though other people that have given presents have got it right and they're still all gold and red decorations.
We have a long kitchen with a little seating area at one end where we have our angel tree. It's a small tree with white lights and silvery and white decorations which are mostly angels that we have picked up over the years. my favourites have beautiful feather skirts:D"all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0 -
I have a big tree which is either 7 or 8 feet tall (had high ceilings and a really tall window in old house and my wee 5ft one looked awful!) and it is normally done in red gold and green baubles with a collection of Winnie the Pooh and different Santas that I have picked up over the years - that is the big kid in me!!! White lights is a must.
This year I don't want the tree in the living room because of the dogs, and it can't go in the conservatory as that is where they live when we are out and I don't trust them not to chew through the wires! I think I will put a string of white lights on my tall twigs as that looks really good and then buy a smaller tree for the porch to sit ontop of my little cabinet out there so it looks nice for all the visitors coming in."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!
