£44 left on my food card which should just about cover my last food order for this month.
A car repair meant the food budget was pretty tight and I made one or two purchases from the buffer, but that's still progress (considering it was about £800 for the car repair).
I need to do a meal plan by midnight Wednesday for Thursday's A$da delivery. Its so difficult to think up different things to eat so I've started a list of meals and put the recipes in a folder. After work I'm not always up for too much cooking, so I need to plan that in too.
Will have a trawl of the thread for some good ideas. I'm just pleased to feel in control of the food budget again at last.
ps Really agree about shopping inertia Jingsmybucket its amazing how creative my family get when they have to be. Normally they are just looking for the easy option, but when faced with a walk to the shop I guess its easier to be creative with what is in the cupboards.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Good morning everyone,
just caught up reading thread. Not had much time on thread this month. Been really busy at work and working late most nights. By the time I arrive home and I have made dinner and tidied up I am ready to read a chapter of my book and then bed. Hope to have more time during Easter holidays for browsing MSE boards and trying out some GC recipes.
Weather here bright but very cold. Need to go to shops but have been eating out of cupboards as by the time I finish work I can't be bothered starting shopping. However it has been an eye opener just how long you can go just eating the food you have in the house.
Still haven't bought my new freezer but have been looking. Freezer now very nearly empty and ready to be defrosted in preperation for when I eventually order and arrange delivery of new one.
Is it weird that I am excited about restocking new freezer and I haven't even bought it yet?:
Have £40+ left for March hope to make it.:):0 -

I'm building up a list too. There are loads of meals I love but for some reason I can't seem to remember what any of them are on a Saturday afternoon when I'm writing next weeks meal plan
Felt tempted by the snack machine today so I popped out on a break to buy some cheaper snacks to keep in my desk. Then tried to walk out of the shop without my change so they were nearly even more expensive snacks. Cheapy left overs for tea tonight but do need to top up shop tomorrow so still feel cautiously on track x0 -
£21.09 added, on things that would have cost me less than a tenner at the market... and it's starting to look like it'll be a very close-run thing now, with ten days left to go & only just over £85 left.Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Safely back from our holibobs in Valencia, but managed to catch a nasty virus whilst there unfortunately. I don't really feel like eating much atm, but pushing on as need to eat healthy to get rid of the blasted throat and DH still needs feeding
Spends this week of 17.46 at Al*i, 0.79 at L*dls and 13.03 at Morries.
This puts us on £52.55/200 and have only shopped four days this month :j though this includes week away. Funnily enough, I always feel I actually spend more around a holibobs, as have to donate to my NDN any fresh stuff that won't keep whilst away and then buy all fresh on return. Oh well.
Hope that's the end of the freezing wind and that you're all having a great month budget-wise.

nice to see you back lynnejk but sorry to hear you have been/are so ill. Apparently spicy foods are meant to help a sore throat?

Spent £1 in Mr T's yesterday on a hot cross bun loaf, hubby and the kids eat it for breakfast, also spent £4.22 on wipes, nappy bags, mushrooms and some biscuits in Ald!. Have spent nearly every day this week because I didn't plan and do my usual top up on monday. Got £78.64 of the budget left until the 31st.
Plan for today is to go through the freezer and check the meat against the meal plan and see if we can manage without buying any meat or fish. Then do the same with the cupboards. Hoping to have a low spend for the last 10 days and use up some of the random bits we have lurking about.Grocery Challenge 2024
