310 budget. Not counted very well after hitting the budget limit so early but allowing for what I've swapped from savings to cover it i would say 370 total spend for march. Payday is Monday so I'll be going over to April thread. I should have my usual budget in April so might be more successful. I have a better understanding of what we use though which is a positive. And still have washing powder and dog food left for net couple of weeksJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Need to add a £2.21 spend yesterday on margarine and a loaf of hot cross bread.
Today spent £3.87 in Mr t's on a pack of peppers, 5 bottles of fizzy drink and a pack of mousse's I had a voucher for.
Spent £56.72 in Ald!, got some reduced price chicken's, large mushrooms and normal mushrooms, as well as the rest of the weekly shopping. Need to be a bit inventive as I'm almost at my month's total, with 9 days left. Should have enough to feed us till next thursday but will need to be careful when buying for next weekend.Grocery Challenge 2024

Declaring at £402.69/£400 for March.
Slightly over but with the lean February I am still under budget for my annual target.
See you on the April thread!0 -
I had to buy some garlic yesterday as I'd not been paying attention and had run out. Only 60p though.
Today was a bit less restrained at £16.43 across Aldi and Tesco. I got a few things we really needed like peas (5 year old is insisting on peas with every meal at the moment) and some not so much but nice like hot cross buns. I managed to find some without peel in them which is a win as I can't stand the stuff. I should make my own really but I'm not feeling motivated enough today.
Found a good deal in Tesco on broccoli - they had a range of veg at 3 for a £1 including broccoli and we eat quite a lot of it so I got 3 rather than mixing it up with other veg.

Been a bit slow posting over the last couple of weeks. Have had various stops for eggs/bread/cat food since last post and then popped to tesco for something else and ended up picking up a heap of frozen fish/seafood and darn it the ice cream was on deal... sigh, could have been a lot worse (would have been a few months ago for sure!!!) to the tune of £30.15 and then to Aldi for usual top up this week £21.35. Was feeling like it had all spiralled a bit out of control but actually am only sat at £253.46/£410 for the month so far so maybe not so bad after all. Another week and a day to go and should just be top up shop for milk etc so we will see.0

PipneyJane wrote: »I love my bread machine. Ours is at least 13 years old, so probably out of manufacture, but based on my experience, I would suggest getting the largest bread machine you can. The paddle of ours leaves a large hole, which runs approximately a quarter of the way through each loaf. That hole is a pain when you’re making sandwiches. It makes the bottom quarter of each loaf virtually unuseable for anything except dunking in soup.- Pip
The paddle in mine (a 2-year old Russell Hobbs) leaves a hole too, although it doesn't seem to be quite as bad as yours. I think the paddle hole happens with all machines and no-one's come up with a solution yet.Merlin's_Beard wrote: »£112.47/£100 Well, that was a failure!! No, we don't have failures on here! Blips, glitches, purse malfunctions maybe - but failures, never!
Two small shops today, £8.70 in the market and £4.92 at the Co-op so a total spend of £13.62.
I have £25.31 left in the budget for next week and I'll be trying to not spend most of that. I'll definitely need some more milk but nothing else - unless I spot some decent ys bargains. If that's the case then I'll have achieved my goal of stretching 4 weeks' cash over 5 weeks. Any surplus will be an additional bonus to be diverted into the holiday pot.:):)
Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 -
