Think I've meal planned a bit smarter the last couple of days - had a roast chicken dinner on Saturday and plenty of meat for a couple more meals with chicken plus store cupboard ingredients.
Sat - roast chicken dinner (veg in Mr Ts three for £1 offer)
Sun - jambalaya with l/o chicken
Mon - hm pasta sauce with l/o chicken
Hopefully won't need to shop until tues now. Will be planning veggie meals for the rest of the month to keep costs down.
Have also been lucky to be in mr Ts at the right time to snap up some reduced bakery items for puds a few times last weekdessert is where I can easily get tempted to overspend! There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when they make reductions, does anyone else find this?

I've not done so well this month, over by £6.03 and my new month doesn't start until Saturday... though we have all had the lurgy which made my meal planning go out the window.... will try again starting on Saturday for the April challenge! I still think I'm doing a lot better than if I wasn't keeping track of everything, I could have spent more!Sealed pot challenge - 12 - #0040

OK, I'm still coming in over budget, but have reduced my spend this month by another £35.27.
So, have come in at £442.19/£300. Still way over. Still lots to do, but I am pleased that I am making progress in the right direction and that we managed that when we had two colds in a row this month, and felt honestly rotten. Really ill. But we didn't succumb to too many takeaways. In fact, all we had was McDonald's twice (included in above total).
In January, our spend was £543.55!
I really, really need to stick to budget this coming month!!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Nsd today. We had toad in the hole for dinner with mash and carrots. Clean plates all round. I used six sausages, two each, so I put the other two straight in the freezer for a sausage sandwich or something.
Having mince tomorrow, probably spag bol. That will yield leftovers, but I have no space in the freezer... I expect I'll have it for lunch weds and thurs. Ooh, or I could check the outside freezer. There may be an inch in there!!
PG xGrocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100
Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending0 -
My final total for the month is 273.62 euros
Bad news
23.62 euros over budget
Good news
- 16 NSD which is huge for me and hopefully something I can increase.
- We certainly have far more than 24 euros worth of food in the house.
See you all in April.0 -
Over the last week: £1.20 on bread from the community bakery, 69p on a snack at Select Convenience, £2.98 on Easter chocolate at Lidl, £15.12 on food and beer at Co-op, £2.79 on some free with cashback drinks and a reduced vegan pasty at Holland & Barrett, and £23.79 at Waitrose - all on food. Plus 3.99 groceries cashback paid. So I'm on £165.65 for food, £10.00 on cleaning, £2.94 on household, £8.70 on toiletries = £187.29 with probably a couple of shopping trips to go yet.0

Another nsd for me. I need to get a few groceries tomorrow as I didn't do the top up today. I've got a spend voucher for Mr T's so will probably go there and get some bits to put away for the start of April.Grocery Challenge 2024
Feb £419.82 Mar £599.53 Apr £405.69 May £531.37 Jun
Declutter challenge 2024 0 items0 -
Spends up to 18th were £77.73
I haven't yet found a receipt that includes the item I know I've not declared, so I'm beginning to think it maybe didn't get put throught the till !! Will add it in if I turn it up later.....
Spends since then have been
24th - £6.70 on another pack of Gingerbread
25th
Her0n - 25p on a pack of rtc sandwich thins (75% off, which made them half price compared to A!di own label)
Aldi - £1.98 on a tub of mushrooms from the super 6, a jar of marmalade, and a pack of free range eggs
26th
Her0n - £3.23 on a tub of ic-cream, a pot of garlic spread (very low dairy, so going to try it and see if it's low enough to not trigger my lactose intolerance the way a hot garlic butter always does), a tub of dairy free spread (need to restock, and this was their last tub - hoping they get more in!) and a rtc pack of hot cross buns (50% off).
That lot takes my spends for the month to £89.89 out of £100 (and annual spend to £287.06 out of £1200).Cheryl0 -

Mrs C, Sainsbobs might not be the cheapest sm around but I've always been very happy with them. I can only think of one occasion when they haven't delivered as booked, but that was because of snow (not this year) and they did phone in advance to let me know. Sometimes they send substitute items - not often - but if you don't want them just give them back to the driver and you'll be refunded the cost within a day or two. Tip: Try to book one of the cheaper delivery slots to get the best value from your voucher.Be kind to others and to yourself too.0
