Back from Mr T's, spent £4.73 for March, will add April's spend onto that thread. Need to get something for tea on Friday, got the youngest son at home with chicken pox so will be in most of the week.

And a spend of £27.31 yesterday in our local W8rose has brought me perilously close to the brink, because I also need some bits at the county town market tomorrow! I should be able to bring it in just under budget but that will depend on the right stallholders being there and having the right things, which, as the forecast is for rain, isn't a given.

Hi all, another NSD for me today.
Has anyone used Sainsbobs for online shopping, would you recommend? I've got a new customer voucher code, thinking about using it to start April's budget.

I have been using them for last couple of months, I thought it was about time I used the vouchers they constantly send us to make some savings! Check for offers on your first shop if you haven't used them before, I got £18 off £60 shop which was great! Also check on cashback websites for first order deals.

We then had 4 weeks of £12 off £60 shop and this month had £9 off £60 and £3 off £20 shops as we both got sent different vouchers even though our accounts are connected! You also get extra points if you use them all but unfortunately we are away for a week so will miss out on those this time round!

I do click and collect rather than home delivery but have always been happy with their stuff, only a couple of items out of stock and all dates have been good on fridge items x

you don't or they don't? if they're not deducting it from your bill you should send them a quick

Ocado and Morrisons are deducting the bags and refunding me. However, when I come to add up my receipts and spends, I forget to add the little refund to my total. I hope that makes more sense.

I have a few receipts in my pocket from yesterday to add. I'm hoping I can resist any spending until my Ocado delivery.

Declaring for March at spent more than I meant to but not as much as I did before joining the challenge. At a guess I would say £400 but I lost my way with the adding up.

Planning to spend £350 for April, but that includes the cat expenses. I would love to get down to £150 or £200 but I don't think that's going to happen at the moment for us.

    April spends so far:
    £8.60 prescription
    £45.88 Cat
£7.12 Aldi - top up shop

    So, £61.60/£350 at the moment
    OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10
    £1/day Xmas'20-62 £214/£366 saved
    Grocery Challenge Jun £742/£320 spent
Homeowner wannabe by July 2020 - WooHoo!!
    Starter Emergency Fund £1000/£1000 saved

£9.24 spend in after shock mode.
My self and DS1 were very nearly wiped out by an oncoming speeding driver.. Had to wait around for the police to arrive and assess then let us go. Thankfully other driver was unhurt, that can't be said for his car!
So although I only needed bread, chocolate and a lemonade was purchased for son and 2 tubs of drinking chocolate as it was on offer, the other bits just appeared..
Feeling a bit tearful now, and have stomach ache, still I'm sure that's all normal.
Will update my total & it does look like I'll be slightly under budget this month:j
Glad to see everyone doing so well. :)

    Good evening all

It’s been a big spending week! Over the last five days, we’ve spent £76.90. We did our big shop at the weekend: £41.43 spent in Tesco’s; £8 at the farm shop; £9.34 in Lidl and £6.95 at Costco. (Yes, seriously - I managed to emerge from Costco without spending £100!). On Monday DH dropped into Morrisons and stocked up on their Mango squash, spending another £6.50, then yesterday he stocked up on chocolate in Lidl so that we can make Coconut Rough tonight for Easter, spending another £4.68.

The above brings our total spend for March to £117.03/£120, leaving £2.97 in the kitty. See you all in April.

    - Pip

Coconut Rough: Suspend a bowl over a pan of hot water. Melt 375g of chocolate (i use half dark, half milk) with 60g of coconut oil. Once melted, stir in 3 cups of desiccated coconut. Using a teaspoon, dollop blobs onto lined trays (just wrap the tray in cling film), refrigerate until firm. Store in the fridge - the coconut oil makes them melt easily. (There’s a more comprehensive version of the recipe on my blog, complete with photos.)
