Wrapping March up, not sure how to classify yesterdays spends. Had dog booked for overnight at new kennels, trial run whilst visiting rellies in Black Country, visit postponed due to a health issue, didn`t want to cancel kennel as had previously cancelled due to weather, so went ahead. £21 not counted in budget.

Decided to have a run to larger town of Neath, parked in Morries walked up to Wilkos for some throw away cheap paint brushes, debating whether to bother and just go £shop, found £10 on footpath, went in Wilkos got some dog treats £1.60 no cheap paint brushes, proceeded to M&S as vouchers to spend, fancied nothing, into £shop spent £5 not counted in budget, back to Morries spent £9.48 less £1 car park reimbursement on y.s. items, total of ALL spends only came to £15 but £6.60 not in budget, less £10 find, so will count it as a FREE day.
So total for March £50 OVER, but had to force y.s. items in freezers so hoping for a frugal April.
Do I need it or just want it.
  • Here are my final numbers for March:

    €193.98 / €400.00
    17/10 NSD
    £162.19/£150 UK stock up

I am really happy with the way things turned out this month. I didn’t count my daily spending in the U.K. into the numbers because I was genuinely eating a lot of take out, in restaurants or food on the run. Even though my April budget is set at €400, I’m hoping to keep it at €250 or so.

Final total for March was £392.60/£370, think I was optimistic reducing my budget from £400 especially with easter.
I'm going to try and work out my total food/drink spend separate from the household/toiletries spend for April, to see where the money's going.

One final shopping trip to report for March.

    31st
Tesc0. Nipped in to pick up a dessert for the evening, and got distracted by the reduced to clear section!
£8.26 spent on a raspberry pavlova (the item I went in for), a couple of baking potatoes (for tea that night), an RTC free range corn fed chicken (tea that night), and some RTC finest moroccan inspired mini sausages (went straight into the freezer).

Takes monthly spends to £99.55/£100, and annual spends to £296.72/£1200

Off to find April (and confess to blowing everything yesterday!)

  • I went overboard with £4.10 on cleaning stuff, £1.06 on household items, and £55.99 (!) on food at waitrose (and then I forgot to put the receipt through the cashback apps) though I did have an £8.00 voucher off. £2.70 on veg at the market. Minus 7.58 cashback from last week.
So I ended the month on £208.76 on food, £14.06 on cleaning, £4.00 on household, and £8.70 on toiletries = a grand total of £235.52 - which is way too much!

I have had a few extra spends over the last week as DS3 needs feeding for the next three weeks before he goes back to uni, so have updated signature. He tells me that he is only back there for a couple weeks, then home until the end of September, I may have to revise my target upwards. He is very good at living on his loan so I do indulge him a bit. That is what Mums are for. Still, will see how it goes for now, and moving over to April, looking forward to spring and some warmer weather.

Final update for the month, probably last again! :)

£9.97 - Pets at Home, bedding for the hamsters which was needed before we went away for Easter as friends were looking after them, otherwise I would have pushed that sped into April! :)

£54.40 - Sainsburys, £9 off a £60 shop and mainly stocking up the cupboards

£16.15, small top up at Tesco to get a few things for 6 hour car trip and a couple of things that I prefer to buy there! :)

Bringing total to £616.90 for March, slightly over £600 budget but still within target for the year so I am happy with that :)
