SORRY DOUBLE POST...STUPID COMPUTER!
I am writing this quickly as my power is about to go off for the whole day (thanks NIE!!)
What a shock.......i have never been in an open IKEA with so little people in it!! The managers where dissappointed with the turn out however it did lead to a very nice shopping experience for the first days customers!
Just to let you know, yes the delivery guys are a local company, hired by IKEA,and paid as mentioned above by joylikestoshop.
The vans are provided for the customer to drive themselves if they want to get something big home and this is a very good option as they charge £10 an hour for it! I bet you could drive to Dublin and back and beat the delivery guys option! You just leave your car at the store then collect it when youve got back...very handy!
Red Bertie sorry but online isnt an option at the moment though they did say it will happen soon!
So it went really well for me last night as said earlier there was more staff than customers but it did ease me gently to my role,i have to say i loved having customers there to talk to and i seemed to answer all the questions correctly!
They did end up blocking off the short cuts though and i think this will be permanent as people were missing whole departments....mine being one
The check outs are a big issue and eneryone is just learning so-i know its hard-but a little patients goes a long way in the first few days, one girl was shaking so much with nerves she dropped the persons money as they were being quite cheeky to her!
I would recommend a trip to all those who are putting it off to just go ahead because its not as bad as we thought!
ok power is going in laptop now, lol.
thanks for all the kind support by the way-im loving my new life as working mum!

Went up to Ikea today, was there before 10 and had the pick of the parking spaces. It wasnt busy, in fact it was quite a pleasant shopping experience. Signed up for the family card and got a free cuppa and 25% off certain things which was good. The tills at the checkout were fine, was through in under 5 mins. In fact, I think I queue for longer on a Saturday morning in Tesco!0

Just back from IKEA - not really busy at all, no queuing in either the car park or the store. Might be busier tomorrow though I expect.0

Called to Ikea at 12.30 today - saturday. No problem parking or shoppping. Only 2 people in front of us in queue. Slowest bit was buying some food at food shop - very slow and lots of people just gave up - worth it for the £2 tins of biccys. Yum. When leaving at 2.40 very long traffic queue and much busier.

DW mentioned the dreaded 'I' word today .. she knew from the look on my face that even hell freezing over was not going to get me there today ... so instead she tortured me with having to spend the morning traipsing around shops with her

we were there at about 4.30 today, after i finished work, after me saying"i will not go near the place this side of christmas" well i am a frequent visitor of the glasgow and warrington stores and all i can say is, do not be put off by the fear of hordes of people as there is none, very pleasant, no rush to walk around. no problem getting a seat in the resturant.0

does ikea have a pricing policy like tesco ?
i bought a kingsize duvet set, the sel said £21.99 and the receipt showed £23.99, only noticed as i checked the receipt as the cashier scanned two of my items twice by mistake.0
