I went this afternoon on my way home from work and it was busy but not too bad at all. I suspect the weekend may well be different though!0

I've been to a few Ikeas over the years and am delighted that at long last Belfast now has one.
I called in tonight and spotted a sign at the check out about 'Home Delivery' I didn't ask the SA (cos he didn't know the answers to the 2 simple questions that the customers in front of me asked) and I didnt have time to go to the home delivery section to clarify all the details, but incase anyone wasn't aware (like I wasn't) Ikea do offer a 'home delivery service' but only, it seems, if you personally call into the store and load up your trolly and pay for the purchases yourself.
The price is dependant on your post code and it looks like the further away from the store, the more expensive it is to have stuff delivered. It also depends on the cost of your purchases, so
if your purchases are under £1000 the delivery starts at £25,(If you have sort of 'local' post codes),rising to £35 and then £55
If your purchases are OVER £1000 the delivery starts at £45,then £55 and finally £80
It also mentions that they do offer a delivery service to the Republic of Ireland but it dosen't quote a price.
Hope some of you find this helpful.
Hey, it also looked like they have white vans to rent, sitting in the car park ???
Maybe Happymum can fill in more details if some of this seems a bit vague- How'd the first day go anyway Happymum?0 -
Glad your opening went well I had the misfortune of living not too far from the Edmonton Ikea in London where there were thousands queuing, stampedes when the doors opened and police around all night!Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0

was forced to go there today at 11.30am as my grandfather is swedish and he wanted to buy some swedish snacks, it was dead, not as busy as Glasgow, there were more staff than customers, seemed to be alot of people from the south came up, most were wearing fancy dress hoping to win a spot prize.
was very disappointed with the parking layout, totally different to any other store. Only two lifts in the car park and only one was working on the opening day !!!
Forgot to mention the ridiculous amount of police there too, another waste of tax payers money, i must have counted at least 24 of them.
People arent used to the idea of clearing their table after they have finished eating, leaving me to do it for them in order for us to get an empty table.
had an issue at the till too as the cashier scanned a large towel 3 times instead of scanning the large towel and the two hand towels separately.
thats my rant over for the week0 -
Hey happymummy
Trust your opening 'night' went well  .Now, can you please put us out of our misery and tell us when/if we can buy online?

happymum, I'm glad it went well. I like ikea to shop in, though won't get to Belfast until Feb.I hope they are good employers and you meet lots of friends.I thought of you yesterday when there was a survey out saying working mums express more contentment.
All the best.0 -
I am writing this quickly as my power is about to go off for the whole day (thanks NIE!!)
What a shock.......i have never been in an open IKEA with so little people in it!! The managers where dissappointed with the turn out however it did lead to a very nice shopping experience for the first days customers!
Just to let you know, yes the delivery guys are a local company, hired by IKEA,and paid as mentioned above by joylikestoshop.
The vans are provided for the customer to drive themselves if they want to get something big home and this is a very good option asit takes more energy
to hate than to love...
love and relax!0
