HI DIA - glad you are feeling better.
This new forum is taking some getting used to. I am being sent email alerts I don't want - but am struggling to find the links to go back to diaries I usually post on. I don't like the notification bell either too much like bragbook and therefore stressful.
Survived my first day back (working from home). Physio this morning. I got through about half my emails. Boss was nice and we had a lovely lunch and then chat back at mine. Agreed reduced hours for next week - with one whole day off midweek. Will then review the hours for the following week and the end of each week. Hopefully that will help. More physio towards the end of next week - and she is happy to approve more sessions on top if needed. In pain this afternoon despite meds - but probably part physio and part more time sitting upright.

How did you find being back at work? I'm glad you are getting a reasonable RTW phased return, hopefully that will assist.

Hi MF - the email notifications are driving me mad. I like seeing the bookmark against the threads I am subscribed to - that is a positive change. I absolutely do not want email notifications for all my subscribed threads. I do want a weekly one for my own diary though - that way I have my own record if MSE ever goes down. I have 11 years of history on here...
Work was fine when it was me on my own. I didn't like being put on the spot by my boss - in wanting me to commit to very normal things like which days I will work and for how long. It suggests I'm still uncomfortable about going back. She has asked me to go to the office and meet someone senior to discuss a piece of work on Monday - very logical, very reasonable - but I'd rather not. Will do it though. So Monday is the real test...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I just read on @beanielou's diary (sorry, I'm struggling with the new forum on my phone and it's taken me so long to get here I've now forgotten who it was), click on your profile tab at the top (the circle with the head in it), edit profile and scroll down to change your notifications. You can also edit signature from here and another couple of user cp things.
I hope this posts as it's my first on the new forum.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

@savingholmes a simple pop up would suffice, seems like everytime someone sneezes I get a notification! Let's do a deal, whoever works out how to sort the notification, let the other know!
You possibly (well, do) feel guilty about going off ill, wonder how people will react when you go in and also hope everyone will understand you can't dive straight back in and where you left off.
I'm not sure anyone would like their first office day involving a meeting, that should have been you going in, catching up more and seeing how it goes; that's my manager hat on.
Just remember, if the times / days are not working for you, speak up.

@savingholmes if you are on a PC click on the bell at the top of the page, click on the stacked three lines with dots and that lets you pick what's email and what's a pop up.
If you are on your phone, the switch to browser and follow the above!Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Thanks I think I've resolved it now. Thanks GAP and MF. I also used to use the Thanks button to help me track where I was in a diary ie where I had read up to before - now it is all the same colour I've lost that ability to track as easily. (Shush - don't tell anyone).
Thanks MF - I think my boss saw today as the easy catch up. TBF I only have to go in for the one meeting that day. I've suggested to a team member that we go out for a coffee catch up after that. My boss is trying to be supportive but when you have a senior(ish) role in a small organisation you end up with some immovable deadlines - and that's also partly why I wasn't off longer as essential plates would stop spinning. I'm known as a 'fixer' and there genuinely isn't anyone that can easily step in to meet an upcoming drop dead date on a piece of work. It's the culmination of months of work so don't want it to fall apart now. The 'offending' meeting is to make sure that I fully know the expectations for the final piece of work - from the person that will be presenting it at the end of the week. One step at a time.
At least I had a paid for lunch today. DS is coming home overnight on Sunday. He didn't get a temporary role he applied for so he is gutted. Hopefully something else good will come up. Looking forward to seeing him. I think he is going back to uni Monday evening after his dentist appointment. I will need to fill up / top up my fuel tank to get me to payday. Completely overspent since the start of the year - will have to press reset when I get paid mid Feb - not long to go. Our bank wrote to us today with the new overdraft rates - and as part of it as well as increasing the rates they are reducing a free overdraft we have on one account from £250 to £100 which is a shame. We rarely use it but it's nice to have the buffer.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well I've played with acrylic pouring paints in 3 different sessions this week - a lot of fun. Some of the results I like - some not so much. Not sure what I will do with the 'cast offs'. Used £1 canvases - its the paint and the pouring medium that costs the money... Oh well small price to keep me sane
DH brought me two boxes and a bag from my study. I've emptied the contents of one box - most of it went into a charity bag - most of the rest into rubbish. Looked through a second box but I want to keep that stuff. DS is now coming home tonight for 2 nights - so I now need DH to put the stuff I'm keeping back upstairs. I've given him a load of important papers to file - pension, life insurance, car insurance etc.
I nipped to the shop with DD and picked up prescriptions and this week's groceries. I'm over our grocery budget by at least £100 this month - must do better next time!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Had a nice lie in today. The last couple of days my leg has been less painful - so I am hoping to move from 3 a day to 2 a day - however I'm mindful that when I first go back to work I will be moving more and am likely to need the 3 a day. Will see how it goes. I also need to remember more to do the physio exercises - balancing on one leg at a time and lifting a football and holding it with my feet. Not back at physio until Thursday.
DS is going to have a go at acrylic pouring later - to create some art for his uni room. He has been lonelier than he expected this year - as his cheap uni room is on a corridor of first year students while he is in third year - and he worked too much last term to re-cement his first year relationships after his study abroad year. DS is planning to see a friend from home later today. He's at the dentist tomorrow - hoping the bill isn't too big for him.
Our BB changes over on Tuesday - but that's a day when I am travelling to another site so should be okay. I've got Wednesday as a rest day unless I'm 'behind' in which case I can switch it to Friday. I'm due in the office part of Thursday. Will see how it goes.
Still lots to do in my study. Love DS but him coming home made it harder to sort it - as his bedroom is the only place with space to put it in. My nephew is adoring the craft stuff I gave him a few weeks ago - so it may be that I can gently let go of materials for crafts I'm not currently interested in - in his direction. Perhaps I could create 'top up' bags every time I see him as a way of making it painless for me and Sis who would need to find a home for it.
Planning a roast beef dinner for tea. Will ask DH or DS to do the potatoes. I bought prepared veg so other than that it should be simple enough. I also need to get the washing done today but so does DSI remember those days...
