Hope you get your pain levels sorted and manage a decent nights sleep.L
I slept but woke earlier than I would have liked. I managed to get back to sleep to be woken by the postman delivering an extra full size cl1n1que item in error - on top of the free one I received yesterday. Worth £32! Very chuffed.
Hi SH. Just caught up on your diary. Sorry you have been having a rough time health wise, but with the right help, you will recover. I would definitely advocate taking your time to get better. 2 weeks off can be wonderful, but if more time is needed, then you should pursue it. Self care is far more important that others suggestions, so if you feel you need time, ensure you get it. In relation to work, I accept that you enjoy it, but the work will always be there.

Hope the painkillers don't zone you out too much. I never enjoy that feeling!!
I am hoping that the pain is more under control today. Took my first (prescribed) tablet at 9.45 - will see how I get on. Need to cut off another strip and put some in my handbag as we are going out later. I hate pain meds - especially ones with codeine in so really last resort. I have a small amount in my handbag now in case I need them away from home.
Make sure you take co-codamol and naproxen on a very full stomach, it limits the side effects, as does splitting the dose.... My GP has added a low dose amitriptyline into the mix, good for nerve damage and sleeping, allegedly.

If you do book the GP appointment, say you have been taking over the counter co-codamol and whether it has helped at all, no point self-medicating if there is something more useful on prescription.
I want to vomit when I have soluble medicine so that won't work for me. I think I automatically took 2 tablets last night and should have taken 1 and seen how it went - but I did it on auto pilot. Will try splitting the dose if I do it again. Not done anything re GP appointment yet. If the pain is still bad next week - will go back about that regardless. Amitryptolene has a very bad effect on my MH so never taking that again. Glad it works for you though.

I have just finished a painting of tulips, very bright and abstract, but it makes me smile! I am glad that you enjoyed your craft session.

I also thought your comment on self actualisation/individuation was very interesting. I personally think that is the one that very few people achieve as there are so few role models that we can aspire to, but more people than any time in history are giving it a go and trying to figure out and live their own, authentic life path!
Tulips do well as an abstract painting. I have some tulip curtains somewhere. I sometimes 'recycle' curtains around the house to give me a low cost change. They are currently packed away but I've been wondering about getting them back out. They have a lovely stained glass effect. I want to do some glass painting again. May try tomorrow - full on day with DH today.

Self-actualisation - it is something I regularly strive for - but always feel a long way off.

On an MSE front - our BB transfer goes through on the 11/4 reducing our costs by half and our elec and gas on the 4/2 also reducing our costs.

I've dug out my paperwork for reclaiming tax on my packaged bank account - the letter is dated 5/2/18 - so I need to submit the reclaim at the start of next week to get £158 back between the 2 of us. I then need to submit the tax reclaim form for the ppi - it looks like I paid £1058 - so I won't get all of that back - you are only allowed £1K tax free - and I got about £84 interest from a regular saver last year - but it is still worth doing. So not sure what I will get back - or how it works. Need to investigate - I'm sure there's something about iton MSE somewhere.

  • Hi SH,

Hope you're feeling a bit better and that the meds are helping?

Tulips are gorgeous flowers, they remind me of spring more than daffodils.

    Have a lovely afternoon xx

We had a mental health awareness session at work today. We are going to be provided with a reading list. I'm not in the office tomorrow but it should be up by Thursday so I'll try to remember to note them down and post them here and you could have a look and see if there are any you haven't read (I know you've read loads).

I haven't forgotten about this. The reading list didn't appear on the intranet until this morning. I have printed it but there are quite a few books on it. I'm wondering if you'd like me to send you the whole pdf from the session? I saved it to my desktop at work but I got distracted and forgot to email it to myself so I will do it on Monday. If you would like a copy then PM me your email address and I'll send it over.

If anyone else would like a copy then do the same and I'll send it on Monday. It was a mental health awareness session and has lots of hints and tips. I didn't get a chance to read through properly but I quickly scanned it and thought it was quite interesting.

You're welcome - I still need to do it - but have found paperwork and printed the form so although I will do it online - at least I know what I need in advance.

Hi PurpleMum - we had a fantastic date afternoon. My voucher covered 2 carvery meals and the drinks and I got a little change. DH and I then went to a cinema with reclining seats. We watched one about 'knives' - it was really good. A kind of who dunnit but in a comedic way and we had a good laugh. As to meds - not in as much pain as yesterday - so have avoided extra so far. Hoping I get to sleep before the pain relief wears off. Bless DH and DD - they decided to buy me a bunch of multi-coloured tulips tonight - I love them but would have preferred to spread them out but let's not tell them that hey!

    Thanks GAP.

I've been watching youtubes on crafts tonight which has been nice. Need to avoid spending on non-essentials until payday again now though - we kind of took our foot off the debt payment accelerator. I've decided to put the £21pcm we are saving on our bb towards our mortgage from March. Just overpaying £124 pcm is due to clear about £19K off our mortgage by 2031.

  • I can't take anything with codeine in it SH - it gives me the most awful hallucinations so I feel as though the walls are closing in -not ideal for someone who is severely claustrophobic!

I'm also not convinced that the thing of your DH doing stuff if asked but not thinking to offer is anything to do with ASD - if mine is anything to go by it's just to do with being a husband! :rotfl: Mine will also generally assume that I'll take responsibility for my own health but in the case of anything serious (ie life threatening) he definitely does step up to the plate (he's proved it!) - and I'm sure yours would too in that situation.xx

It is sweet that your DD and DH buy you flowers and you have date nights :),:happyhear. I believe the symbolic meaning of tulips is 'deep love'.

Ask the physio about walking in water. It works very well to help move fluid through your lymphatic system as ther water helps push it up and out of your limb. Very good for reducing some fluid swelling.

An aqua exercise class might be too much right note but just walking in a swimming pool can be fab
