Really glad to hear the news about your DDs appointment. It must be a weight off your mind.

Try to find some time for you. It won't achieve anything if you wear yourself out and can't do anything! (hugs)

Thanks MF and Crystal - I finished work early on Friday and lay down for an hour. Yesterday was busy - did get 15-20 minutes alone while walking the dog... Today taking DS and then taking some time for me... before coming home - all while spending the least possible £. I have got a Primarni voucher that I am planning to use for both of us... We will see..

    Hi guys

Well I made is safely home again yesterday - the rain was appalling on the trip up to uni but okay on the return. DS and I ate out at his insistence so I am perilously close to needing to use a (free) overdraft at the end of the month. Will try to avoid that. Went to bed for around 3 hours. Got a food delivery (on budget). Today is a short working day as I am taking DD to school and picking her up for an appointment. DH is due to help on future days but sometimes he winds her up so I would rather he dealt with pick ups rather than drop offs.

Still chuffed that she finally has a consultant appointment we've been waiting for - otherwise today's appointment was again to lobby for one. As it is it will probably mainly be a medication review. I feel marginally better after yesterday's sleep. Hoping today will be a good day. Have a CC minimum payment due to go out later this week.

Today's appointment went well for DD. He had been planning to do the referral today if she met certain criteria which she did. He said we had been really lucky to get the appointment we had as he had expected us to have to wait another year. Got home early for me but feeling completely whacked still. Decided not to try and work tonight and instead to rest. Will need to blag my way through a meeting I am leading tomorrow. DH not feeling much better although he went in the car today and appreciated it. He bought DD some food on the way home and then cooked my tea. I was so grateful. DH has booked a medical appointment for himself too.

CB all sorted now - not sure when my main date will be but they have now paid the 3 weeks back pay I was owed. I still need to finalise my car insurance and check into one of my life insurance policies... Just waiting for a magic influx of energy that doesn't seem to want to come...

I agree with this. You've been doing so much recently, you need to take it easy for a wee while. I know you've got a lot going on but it's like being on the plane when the oxygen masks come down, you shouldn't help someone else until you've put your own one on. If you don't look after you, you'll end up struggling. Please take care x

  • Thanks MF and GAP. Rest is appealing - I think a lot of our current exhaustion is due to stress re DD and an element of work related stress. You know when you can deal with one or the other but when they both come at once it's really tough. Things escalated this summer and haven't quite settled back to normal. Hopefully it will soon but with things going on at both our jobs and stuff at home it doesn't sound likely.

Family are expecting us to go to my nephew's birthday party this weekend about 100 miles away. I would avoid it - but I've not seen my sis for about a year... and she's pregnant too... The worst of it is that extended family are due - but too many people are exhausting... Just trying to keep my head above water currently.... Cut most of our non-essential activities out - but sometimes wonder if making more time for friends / social would help...

Financially we need to do as little as possible between now and payday mid month. I think I missed the expenses deadline which is irritating as I had £25-30 to claim. Will check tomorrow and remind OH to do his overtime claim. I think I may also have missed a deadline for returning DD's coat that was the wrong size - around £30ish. I am also wondering if I could try and re-sell the maths books I bought for her at the start of term....

Right off to check the washing machine before taking pooch for a walk.

If I were you I would definitely make more time for family and friends. We are all in it for the medium/long haul and we have to have nice things along the way to cheer us up.

I totally get where you are coming from. Last year I was slap bang in the middle of DD;s diagnosis and had started a full time job with a crazy boss. I was never as physically ill as last/this year so quit the job just before the summer. I'm not suggesting that's an option for you but sometimes something has to give along the way. For you, it might be relaxing more and having a treat once a month or meeting up friends/family who are supportive and fun.
