  • Hope the new laptop lives up to expectations.  I am used to mine now and so pleased I made the change a couple of months ago.  As with everything, it isn't until later you discover the small niggles.  Forgetting the last laptop, which wasn't a patch on my old Thinkpad, the bits I am missing are - keyboard light and something to indicate when locked on Caps.  Apart from those 2 small things, I am really happy with mine.  I always buy as small as possible because I want it to be as portable as possible.  Hope you are happy with yours once it is fully set up Savings.
What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Busy, busy Saving Holmes.  The house renovations sound great.  Difficult to decide about when to move - sometimes the whole move takes much longer than we ever dream can be possible.  3 months at the very least.  How about testing the market?  Or going on the market ready for next spring?  That could potentially give you a summer move.  It sounds like you have got itchy feet to move and change lifestyle.

You made me realise mine doesn't have any kind of light either - which is different for me too. The graphics are much clearer and brighter though.

TBF our garden looks its best around May so that would be a good time for photos. Studies show you usually get a better house price in the summer too - in normal times at least. I worked a really long day again today. I have an early (for me) meeting on T3@ms tomorrow that I am leading and I just didn't feel ready. Originally I was due to go in tomorrow but due to the latest guidance back to WFH. I took DS to get our prescriptions and he picked up the last lot of loo roll as I missed it off the order last week. I've booked next Monday off for when the work men are here but said I may do some work if they are not too distracting. At least it takes the pressure off.

DD did her exam today and it seemed to go okay. DH took her and I picked her up as she didn't feel up to riding. Neither of us can take her tomorrow and DS is no longer on the insurance so she will have to ride then. DS has had his student loan and refunded the money he owes me - so I got £310 back. I couldn't remember why we were so low on £ in terms of EF etc so was feeling bad about it - when I remembered it was partly due to him and he'd had his student loan through so could pay up. I am effectively going to put the money back in savings rather than pay debt with it so we have a 'cushion' again  (especially as all our borrowing other than the mortgage is free currently).

  • Somehow I missed your update yesterday!
The laptop arrived quickly, hopefully it's all set up for you now. If you do grab your screen from work, make sure you have the right cable; the two laptops I have from work use different cables which was annoying having to buy yet another cable.
With the noise from they keyboard, are your nails catching the keys, rather than your fingertips? It may be worth consciously watching how you type in the morning; I am assuming you do touch-type.

I like how DD is getting you sorting things out, she really is coming out of herself lately. I do enjoy hearing about how she is getting on 😊

DS came through then. Is he any closer to getting his prescriptions via the NHS? I know you mentioned it a little while back, but don't recall an update since 🙈. Hopefully he will make is funding last a little bit.

Having your savings going back up will be a relief and eases pressure a little.

  • Good points - I will ask DS to chase the NHS letter. He has tried but no sign yet. I am not going in work tomorrow now so not sure how I will get a chair or screen. I may go in next Monday when the workmen are here and go straight in and out. I am a touch typist - I did a course at 15!! at night school when they still allowed under 16s in the classes. It is just a noisy keyboard - but bear in mind I am noise sensitive anyway. Having spent £200 (cough) on an ultra quiet keyboard for DH I am even more aware of it than normal LOL. The screen itself is bigger and brighter. I've just ordered a separate keyboard (£18) for me and a new mouse for work as my wrist has been hurting with the non-ergonomic mouse they supplied me. I normally just swap over my own - but I thought I'd try the ordinary one - but regretted it today. I am going to just put in on expenses I think....

  • I use a Bakk3r 3lkhu1z3n keyboard, only downside is it doesn't have a number keypad. Might be worth a try if your replacement one isn't how you hoped.
Non-ergo mice are not good, but finding the right ergo one makes a huge difference, as you've seen.

Well I got up early today and finished prepping for my meeting which went well. I got good feedback. I also used my new makeup so felt a little more presentable. I then took some time for me and walked the dog while it was still sunny. Did a little more work. Took DD to the gym (made her walk back).  Picked up some meds for her. Did another hour's work and clocked off early. I then spent what felt like 2 hours sorting my car insurance and dog insurance out. If all goes well - I will get some cashback - however if they don't treat me as a new customer they may not pay out... I've ordered some TP from Am**** again as struggled to get it on my delivery!! A bulk buy of 72 !!! rolls on the way. I think we may survive on that for a while LOL.

My new hob came - to be fitted next week. We checked the ampage at the fuse box and it's 32 which matches the hob which is fab. We will then move the oven to the new unit we are due to put together. DD will hopefully dye my hair tonight and earn a whole £6. DH needs to sort haircut. Not seen it this long in years! I am feeling so much better about £ now DS has returned what he owed us and we've got a transfer sorted. It means our EF can stay at a healthier level and we can still get work done. DH still needs to sort insurance. He asked me why I didn't look at insuring DS on my car.... hmmmm I wonder LOL. I will update signature (negatively) to reflect transfer (boohoo) but I don't regret it currently.

wow - i'm tired just reading that.  be careful with insurance and children - it can be easy for the insurers to be difficult should an incident happen while your DS is at the wheel - esp if they could claim he is in effect the main driver
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

Also look at an ergo mouse mat with a raised place to rest your wrist.  They can make a real difference
