I live very close to the North Wales border and it's absolutely beautiful here. We've never regretted our move to a quieter and more rural life.

Perhaps after covid we should meet up @Fortune_Smiles @hugglemonster @WelshKitty85 PM me if interested - as don't want to given any more specific location details on here LOL. I once met up with someone from the MSE hampers thread - and found she had the same picture as me hanging in her hall. It was surreal!
Well I ended up going into work and working an extremely long day. I've done 17.5 hours - at 2 days in. At least I get flexi and work have been very good in recent months so not complaining. Fortunately DS sorted DD out for us - but car insurance needs sorting and can't afford to cover him again.
Well my midnight £1K payment to my spends card is now showing so it is looking much more reasonable again. I need to get out of the habit of using it as continually on the back foot. I will pay another £200 after DH is paid at the end of the week. That will then clear the latest statement but there will still be a balance (currently an extra £475 due to be paid in October). Some of the spend was on the kitchen, replacing washing machine and DD's phone. Not heard a price back from the kitchen fitter. I need to try and get more quotes. For my kitchen I still need to find funds for worktop fitter, possibly an electrician and a new induction hob. I also need to get the skip returned - hopefully can sort that out tomorrow. I am hoping to get my EF/Savings pot back up to close to the £1K mark this month as it had fallen drastically so not expecting to send much else to CCs. When I get my backpay next month I should be able to make better inroads into the CCs.
I've just ordered myself a load of new makeup - big spender - 11 things for £28 at S.... D..g - I've lost most of mine in the confusion of spending 6 months at home - and most of what I know where it is - is literally years old and needs binning.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks Lucielle.
I got called into work again at short notice and ended up working late again. Oh well - DD is already campaigning for me to spend some time sorting stuff for her tomorrow afternoon before she goes to work so may ask boss if I can adjust my hours slightly to help her. She went on her bike again today which was fab. I took some chilli she's prepared to work today for my lunch. Fab. I cooked some chicken tonight and a casserole for tomorrow.
I cleared off the desk I bought a while back - so I could sit up at a desk again. My neck thanked me LOL. Still need to sort through the stuff and find a permanent home for it. Still need to send the skip back. DH sorted his insurance for his car £183! Woohoo. My renewal has now come through - so need to sort mine. Mine even to renew with existing provider is around £260 so hopefully can get that down. DH's car has a few faults on it - so may start looking for another car - as we're not sure it will pass an mot and its faults are expensive if fixed. I've asked DH to consider a pre-mot - or may just start looking for another... It's done us proud for a year when I originally though it it got to 3 months it would have paid for itself at 750. Now need to find another bargain...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks Welsh Kitty. Someone from MSE went to my sister's wedding as she was also on the boards - not sure if she still is. I think with the car - will definitely do some sort of pre-mot so we can understand whether it is likely to pass and what the cost would be to fix if it failed. There are no decent priced cars of similar mileage / quality / brand when I looked tonight - so at least that's given me a 'budget' of what it would be reasonable to spend up to... I will add it to my list to get sorted... I think I will also get my MOT booked in for around 4-6 weeks time...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

well done SH you are keeping everything moving forward.
I loved your earlier post about the progress you have made over the last few years -you are in a much better place. I haven't moved house in decades, so perhaps unsurprisingly I would favour delaying until you were DF, and also to see how things pan out. As you are both buying and selling I wouldn't worry too much about peaks and troughs in the overall market, unless you know your target area is much more volatile than yours.
One of the things I did this year was try and get all my spending away from CC and cash. I have largely succeeded, except when I leave my wallet behind and have to use my CC which I keep in my phone for emergencies. I think this gets you off the back foot and onto the front foot, even if if does leave you nowhere to hideI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Lovely idea to meet, I'm friends IRL with someone else I conversed with on here years ago!
Busy as always, great news on the insurance cost for dh car and hope you manage to find some cheaper quotes for yours. I hope you manage to get the car sorted definitely comes a point when it's time to change rather than keep fixing, dh has told me no car finance ever again!
Hope you manage to get your afternoon off to help dd, H x2
