Welcome back, so pleased to hear all is well. Congratulations on paying off your mortgage 🥳👏 Definitely go back to riding if you enjoy it. I used to be horse mad when I was young and used to pester my parents for a horse, all my friends had one. I had to settle for just going to a riding school and being a non pony owning member of the Pony Club 😆 I’ve still got all my old Riding magazines.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Happy New Year OBL , glad to hear your shorter hours are suiting you. Great news on being mortgage free as well. Forgive me as I don't know the correct term but can you hire a horse for a certain term so you look after it etc? I'm sure my work friends have their own horses but then have one they look after.Sorry to hear DD2 is unwell, hopefully she will get better soon.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.2

Lovely to see you…..you’d been missed.Congratulations on being mortgage free. It must be a load off your mind.
If I were you I’d go for a few riding sessions to see how it feels. But since as I’m not you I won’t go anywhere near a horse 😂😂😂😂 I think they’re beautiful creatures but my feet stay firmly in the floor an arms length away from them 😂😂😂😂 I’d be petrified on a horse.January spends - £587.582 -

I have decided I am going to go back to my local riding school to see how I get on and it will also be a way to do some horsey networking because I'm out of the loop at the moment. They do offer livery there so but are full at the moment so that's something to investigate.
😂😂about you not going near a horse I can understand that. I started riding when I was about 7 and I've always been fearless around horses. I love to go for a good gallop more than anything, there's no feeling like it on earth 😊 I also like the company of a horse and the way they know if you are not feeling right. It's hard to explain but my happy place is definitely with horsesOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
I've had a lovely day today despite it being monsoon like outside. I had a lovely lie in then after breakfast I took B for a short walk, she is really starting to slow down now 😟 but she is 16 so it's to be expected.
i met my friend for a coffee and we had a good catch up because we haven't seen each other for two whole weeks 😂 I mentioned to her about getting my kitchen floor replaced as her husband is a carpenter who owns a shop fitting company so she is going to mention it to him to come and have a look and give me a price so that's another job in the pipeline. He's always really busy but I'm hoping he will be able to fit a small job in 🤞🤞
I then came home and pottered around . I also put all my Christmas decs back in the loft 🎉🎉they have been on the landing for the last couple of days and it was annoying me. It looks lovely and tidy again now.
Im now off to bed because I have work on an early tomorrow so will be getting up at 5.15 😫😫 thank god its only for two days a week now 🎉🎉Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
Hope work went ok for you.

I haven’t posted anything in years but here goes… I have a horse, we adore her, but……
livery £260 (diy)
insurance £84
shoes£60
Jabs £20 ( flu/ tetanus/ hormone one
dentist £15
feed £20 very small amount
saddle fitter £10 reflock = more
tack replacements £20 she loves a new head collar
hay £70 less in summer
and a biggie at this time of the year bedding £155
so that’s £714 a month at the moment!Plus daily visits oh and I forgot the £ 25 I give a teenager every week to feed and hang hay nets in the evening to save me one of the 28 mile round trips and another two hours of my day! Don’t get me wrong she’s worth every penny of it but that’s an awful lot of no hassle lessons 🙂
I get up at 5.15 to make it work and get home at 5.30 ( squeeze 6 hours work in between) the summers are glorious but the winters are pretty grim to be honest, car’s permanently full of mud and bits of hay and no matter how ill you are you’ve got to go.
I’m not trying to put you off just to give you a true picture. And just one more thing mines pretty healthy but even she had a vet call out this year costing £468 ( no insurance pay out as it was an old issue) my daughters horse cost tens of thousands in vets bills!Time, Tide and Diarrhoea wait for no man.2 -
@gollygosh - All I can say to that is golly gosh!😳
I knew it wasn't cheap to have a horse of your own any more (thinking mainly of fodder, vet bills and periodic farrier), but your post puts it all into perspective - time as well as cost! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
