I've been at home all day today which has been nice. It's the first day I haven't been running around everywhere. I took B out along the river this morning and also to pop into my local shop for some emergency loo rolls because I forgot to buy them yesterday. I won't be doing that again in a hurry because they aren't cheap.

Ive also cleared lots of stuff that was left behind surplus to requirements such as unused packing boxes and paper to wrap stuff in. I've cleared the corner of my kitchen where DD had all her paint brushes and paint from painting furniture. That corner now just has the microwave and coffee machine ( I might be getting rid of the coffee machine )
I also cleaned out the fridge ready to restock. I have a cake stand next to my microwave where I keep my fruit but I'm going to keep my fruit in the fridge so I can get rid of the cake stand. I'm aiming for my worktops to be a clear as possible because I hate them to be cluttered. I haven't started on the cupboards yet because DD hasn't taken all her food with her and I'm planning on completely rearranging them once her two cupboards are empty same with the freezer, she has stuff in there to take so I can't do anything with that until it's gone.

I am going to meet a friend for coffee tomorrow then will carry on with jobs when I get back.

I have moved my router today so it's in the living room now. It used to be in the back hallway which meant the wires went around the door. I have wanted to move it for years but it affected the internet upstairs ( according to DD) I never had any issues so today I've moved it and now the wires are hidden 🎉🎉  Im also catching up on some last minute washing which includes some of DDs cloths but after today it will just be my things.

I also reapplied for my single persons council tax discount today because although I had already done it it hadn't come off my bill which was annoying. I will keep an eye on that to make sure it actually happens.

Yuck to a miserable grey wet day today. I took B out this morning and she wasn't happy to see her footpath still isn't finished, it's meant to open tomorrow but I don't think it will somehow.

Ive just been to meet my friend for coffee and a catch up which was nice. We couldn't meet last week because she was ill with a nasty virus.

I also nipped into the pound shop to get a surface cleaner because mine ran out yesterday and found they had Pom Bear crisps ( my favourite 😊) for £1.75, they are £2.25 in Sainsbury's so I stopped buying them . They also had my brand of toothpaste but it was the same price as Boots so I left it on the shelf.

I have liked the page that belongs to my local library and they have a community fridge that seems to be very well stocked so next time I'm down there I will have a look. They also have seeds for people to take so you can grow your own 😊 I won't be growing anything soon though because my garden isn't ready for it

Well done with the sorting. The communal fridge sounds a great idea.
Its been grey and rainy here all day and I’ve been really cold. I think the only time I warmed up was when I nipped to the chemist with Dh and the car was warm because he’d just come in after a longer ride. I’d usually walk to the chemist but it was bucketing down.

I'm on a mission now, I don't know where this motivation hasn't come from but I'm making the most of it while it lasts. The weather here today just got worse as the day went on. Me and B got soaked on our evening walk.she wasn't impressed at all 😀

DD phoned me at teatime to say she couldn't get her washing machine to work. She paid £50 to the guy she bought the flat off for it and it's immaculate. I thought it was just her not reading the instructions properly but it turned out it was me because when we were there the other day there was a small leak under the sink, I thought it was coming from the pipe that fills the machine so turned it off. It turns out it was the sink and I had forgotten to turn the water back on to the machine 😀

I have been around and bagged some more bits up for DD that she left behind so will be taking that over tomorrow. We are going to Ikea for some house bits. She wants to get a bin like mine to put inside a cupboard and she has still got all her Christmas and birthday money so she is going to see if they have any small dining tables . She has room for a four place setting but really wants to but one that will fold down when it's not being used. She doesn't like to eat sitting on the settee ( unlike me😀) and it will go underneath her very sunny kitchen window. She will have to order it online to be delivered but wants to see the sizes in person.

I am slightly optimistic about the pay settlement that has been agreed with the government today. It's not as much as we need but its better than nothing and a one of payment of £1600 would be welcome to me as that would give me back most of my emergency fund that was used when I had to replace the boiler. I've managed to squirrel away £600 from DDs last rent payment and money my mum has given me but that's not enough if something big happens or more than one thing needs replacing at a time. Fingers crossed that all members will vote to accept it as the union has said its the best deal they are going to get 😊

Yes, hope you get that rise, @OBL. It would help your financial security to have that emergency fund back in place.

Fingers crossed the wage  deal goes through for you (and my ds) I think you all deserve what you asked for, after all most folk were paid for being furloughed whilst you were all in the thick of it. I think a lot of people who worked flat out, risking all the covid germs have been treated terribly. Give everyone a proper wage, attract staff back and save money by not having to pay agency workers. Right I’ll jump off my soapbox now 👍

@milann - hear, hear! I can only imagine the ongoing stress as those who are left in frontline posts are coping with less: less income when set against the cost of living, fewer experienced colleagues, not enough downtime to recover...

It’s outrageous the amount they are willing to pay agency workers. Hope you get the rise 🤞 I also had to work through the pandemic when others were paid to watch Netflix.

Thanks Foxgloves, I will certainly feel better once it's back up to pre boiler levels so fingers  crossed. There's a lot of discussion in the media today about where the money is going to come from though and the UNITE union has not recommended that their members take the deal. We will just have to wait to see how the members of the other unions vote
