  • An assistant in Pets at Home told me dogs like cat food because it has taurine in it to make it more attractive to cats. I’ve also heard that it’s ok to let cats eat dog food but not the other way round. So much “advice” out there.
I heard that too, makes me wonder how rubbish the cat food is that they have to taurine in it to get them to eat it 😳

Just looked it  up and apparently it's added because cats can't synthesise it in their bodies from their diet so it has to be supplemented . Dogs and cats both need it to be healthy. I only know it as the stuff that's in Redbull 😀

I'm glad she's got the Bakers food as an incentive. Hopefully after a few days her appetite will be improved enough to eat her usual food.

Sorry, but in my overactive imagination I can see you soaking the dog biscuits in Redbull...

I am on a cat page for our breed and there are a few who bang on about feeding raw food over processed brands. It's pricey. We feed dry and wet, but our boys seem to prefer the dry, and it's a brand that gets a lot of hate too. But it's what our breeder fed, and they are doing well on it, and they eat it. They get half a tin of wet morning and evening, normally eat most of it, but are less bothered work it.

I know the likes of whiskers and Felix are seen as less good for them, and vets I have known say they can cause teeth problems, but ultimately a fed cat/dog is what is important. Especially an older one like B.

Loads of people in the group I am inget new kittens and immediately try and change the food to one that is seen as 'better' As a breed they are renowned for getting upset tummies, so then they are having to deal with that!

Our dog was on raw food...till he had an accident and ended up in hospital for a month.  The team said that there wasn't enough protein in it and were surprised how many vets recommended it; he is now on chicken and kibble.   He is nicely muscled now; looking back, he was way too thin previously.   Good luck with it all @Onebrokelady love Humdinger xx

It sound mad but it's the same when you first start keeping chickens. Everyone bangs on about giving them all these supplements so they don't die. I bought everything recommend and it made no difference to my hens. I soon learned that they don't need all this fancy stuff and my animals are fine 😊

I fed one of my dogs a raw diet years ago but didn't notice any benefits ,he was a sickly dog but improved when I took him off the raw diet 🤷‍♀️

Woke up to snow this morning so I cancelled all plans to go anywhere 😀I don't mind proper snow that's deep enough to walk in without breaking your neck but this was sneaky snow of the type that sets hard, looks nice but is icy as hell. It also rained in the night so not a good surface to be out on. The sun has come out now so it's all melting and will hopefully be gone by the time I go to work tomorrow 🤞🤞

Ive spent most of the day in the warm but did have to go and sort out Babs the chicken. I was worried as I hadn't  seen her outside her house but she was just behind a bush. She now has extra food and some worms to keep her going.

Ive done some of the never ending washing and just need to sweep the floors now.
B is having a nice chilled out day and seems a lot better than she was at the weekend so I'm hoping she is feeling better agin now. She is definitely confused but I've had a wage tail so I don't think she is distressed. I will keep a close eye on her and see how she goes.
I haven't seen either of the cats today until just now when I went into the spare room to hang some washing on the airer ,they are both snuggled up underneath the radiator fast asleep 😀

DD received lots of paperwork from her solicitor yesterday which included the contract for her to sign. She wanted me to read it all so I spent all of last night reading through it, I slept really well 😀 I reckon she will be able to move in soon and then I can get on with my plans for my house. I could start now but there are packed boxes in piles on the landing and in a corner of the living room so I kind of want to wait until all her things are gone and I can have a clean sweep.

Im also reading another book now. I read one over two days called Wildacre,it was a ghost story and I couldn't put it down I'm now about to start another called Sing Me To Sleep which is also meant to be a ghost story/ psychological thriller. The book I read before that was one of my Christmas presents and was called The Keeper Of Stories. I loved this book ,it was such an uplifting story and I would highly recommend it 😊

Dogs are like people they all seem to have different needs in their diets.  With mine (years ago) any type of tinned dog food was an excellent cure for doggy constipation.  The vet suggested diced shin beef & unpeeled diced potatoes cooked in the microwave.  Worked a treat.  She used to eat better than we did.
