I have managed to escape it so far ( touch wood ) DD has gone back to work today but still has an awful cough. I think she should have taken more time off but she felt ok this morning so went back

  • I hope your DD turns the corner soon and that you don't get it. It's been one thing after another, hasn't it?

Another payday before any potential wiring (and the possibility of Council help if that comes about) would ease things a bit. I think virtual viewings must have been going on over lockdown, it's a great idea. It would also enable her to ask questions, maybe get photos and have a second opinion.
Yes it has been one thing after another lately . I still haven't made a decision about the wiring, I know it needs doing but having researched the problem it seems it's not an emergency so I'm hanging on until I have more money in the bank. I just know the minute I spend the money that's in there something else will break and I will be stuck so I'd like to build it up a bit more first

  • We have had a busy few days . DD had two negative tests in time for viewing the flat on Saturday which was a relief. We went to see it and it's even nicer in reality than it is in the photos, the lad that owns it  has really looked after it and it's spotlessly clean,it's the top floor flat too which DD preferred. The current owner is moving back in with his mum prior to going to uni next year so there's also no chain, he has lived there for three years and bought it brand new .The neighbours are all single girls with no children so DD was very happy with that too😀it's in a cul de sac and is surrounded by really nice family houses. I would have loved to have a nosey at some of the houses there because they look expensive 😀

I vaguely know the area  where it's as it's next to the village where my sister used to live. We had a walk around and there's a lovely big park right next door with lots of o little footpaths to go for a walk so that's made DD happy as she was worried about moving from where we are now because it's right next to open countryside. There's a little library a couple of takeaways and two pubs in the village and about ten minutes walk away there is a massive Sainsbury's ,Aldi's and a new Lidl's is about to open all on the same road. DD has told them she wants to buy the flat and has paid her reservation fee so no one else can look at it now. She sorted out a solicitor today and is speaking to the mortgage broker to go through her mortgage offer on Wednesday. It's all very exciting and I'm so happy it's all working out for her at last 😊

So I will be an empty nester in the not too distant future 🙀🙀it will take some getting used to but I have plenty to keep me busy and we are making plans to do lots of things together when we can. DD confided in me that she feels bad for moving out and got quite upset because she is worried I won't be able to afford the house on my own without her money but I think I have managed to reassure her and as I told her once all the animals are no longer here I won't be staying in this house so she will have to move out at some point.
I've crunched the numbers and I think I will be ok just about, things will be tight because of the energy bills and food going up but I'm used to budgeting so I'm seeing it as a challenge 😊
I need to speak to SC though because my payment needs to be reduced due to the energy bills going up. I'm still thinking about going self managed at some point but I will wait until DD has moved out so I can talk freely with my creditors as she still doesn't know I'm in debt.

  • I can't believe I forgot to post this but one of my chickens died at the weekend 😢😢it was very weird because she was perfectly fine on the Saturday morning then I didn't go up there until Sunday morning and I found her dead on the floor of the run, the bottom rung of the ladder was broken and she was lying underneath it. We had an absolutely massive thunder storm on Saturday night so I'm wondering if she was spooked and fell or it was shock. She was old so she could have just died from old age I suppose but she was running round the garden on Friday 🤷‍♀️ I now have a lone hen which isn't ideal but I can't re home  her because of the avian flu restrictions , she seems ok pottering round at the moment but I will have to keep an eye on her 😟

Oh, I'm sorry about the hen. I know you gave her a good life, but you'll miss her.

Your DD's new place sounds lovely.

I'm glad the repairs aren't as urgent as they first seemed. It's nice you can afford to wait a little and build a bit of a buffer again.

And well done for steering clear of Covid.

  • Morning OBL
That's lovely news about your DD. The flat sounds great, exciting times for her.
I'm an empty nester - my younger DD moved to live with her boyfriend's family after finishing uni last month. She's over 100 miles away now :( Other DD lives nearer.
Sorry to hear about the hen and hope the other one is ok.

Sorry to hear about your chicken. I hope the other one isn't too lonely without her.

That's great news about DD's new flat, it sounds ideal for her. Also good news you're able to wait until you can afford it to have the electrical work done.
