    That is so tough... {{hugs}}.
Here's hoping for a better second opinion on the wiring and a positive vet visit. Remember things feel at their worst in the night and tomorrow may bring better things.

I’ve been told a couple of times my house needs re-wiring but they’ve always managed to get round it in the end. I’m aware it will need doing at some stage though. Hopefully a solution can be found.

It’s distressing when one bad thing happens after another it must feel even worse when you’re not feeling great in yourself.

Fingers crossed the vet visit isn’t as bad as you fear.

Sending positive vibes and hugs 🤗

So sorry to hear about the wiring, @Onebrokelady. I can absolutely see how you feel you just can't seem to catch a break.
I think you do need to get a 2nd opinion. We were very worried about our wiring when we had all the building work done, because when we had a new bathroom fitted a few years previously, which involved some electrical work, I overheard the fitters discussing it. One of them clearly said "This whole place needs a re-wire, doesn't it?" & the other one agreed. But as part of our house renovation project in 2020, we had a range of electrical jobs done including a new controller box, lights, etc, which meant that afterwards, they had to do the full electricity safety tests. I was so worried our wiring wouldn't get through these, but it did without any problems, despite the comments from those other workmen.
I would be open about the affordability issue (who doesn't understand that at the moment?) & ask if there is a way to have only dangerous sections replaced. There is such a thing as a 'partial rewire'.
You may already have done this - I'm just trying to think of possibilities.

Sending hugs, life sometimes seems one bad thing after another.
Hoping you get better news from a 2nd opinion or there are other options to explore like others have said.
Also fingers crossed for the vet's visit

  • Just come across this and wanted to send you hugs and hope you can get something sorted. Have now subscribed to your diary so I can send you positive vibes on your journey. I know its hard, and there will be many who will say I am wrong, but I am a great believer in positive thought and the Law of Attraction. The more you think about what is going wrong, the more that will go wrong. I'm not saying changing your mindset will make your wiring disappear, but it may provide you with a better outcome. I know its hard, especially if you are on medication etc. But honestly, once I discovered the power of positive thought, it made such a difference. Remember feelings will make thoughts, and thoughts will make actions...stay strong and try to feel positive.

Our council offer heating and renovation assisstance to private home owners on a low income. If you didn't know it was there you'd never find it on their web page but it's to do with keeping housing stock available. It might be worth a trawl through your local council website?
  • OBL I do hope you find some resolution to your wiring .
I hope you get some answers to your pain it all sounds so debilitating. I don’t know how you cope with it .
