I’m glad you’re listening to your body and staying off work. It’s no fun being in pain. Take care.January spends - £587.582

I hope they can give you something that helps with the pain. Is a pain clinic an option? It's good that you have a negative for Rheumatoid Arthritis: even if it's not 1000% reliable, it must be reliable enough for them to use it, if you see what I mean.
Good luck with the jumper: my knitting has ground to a halt.

Monday again and today I made myself get up at 9am which seems reasonable to me when I'm not working.
This is the week that keeps on giving too as my kitchen lights have decided now is a good time to stop working . I changed the bulbs in them a couple of days ago and thought they were ok but when I went to switch them on in the evening they were flashing alarmingly and the light switch was making a fizzing crackling sound .
I have found an electrician and he is coming tomorrow afternoon so they will hopefully be fixed. I have been using the camping lights I bought in case of blackouts so they are currently earning their keep.
Then one of the cats has not been quite right, we noticed yesterday that he wasn't eating much which is very unusual for him as he is a big boy, anyway he has lots of little things going on that aren't quite right so I have to take him to the vets. I could only get him an appointment at my nearest surgery on Wednesday morning though so he has to wait until then 😟they had an appointment at the other surgery but it's two bus rides away and I'm off sick so I can't be going gallivanting around the city. Why do these things always happen when you are not in a position to sort them out easily 😡 I'm worried about taking him as well because he is DD1s cat so she has to pay the bill and I'm not convinced she will have the money, she told DD2 that she had maxed out her OD the other day and we still have 17 days until we are paid 🙀 he is insured but I will have to pay initially. Luckily my emergency fund is back up to £700 at the moment so I can do it but she will have to pay me back so she won't be happy 😟
In other news DD2 is trying to buy a flat that she has seen. She saw it a few months ago but it was under offer, it's now back on the market so she has applied to buy it. It's a shared ownership property being sold via a housing association so she has had to go through an affordability assessment which has gone ok so far, she has been given a mortgage in principle so now all we have to to is go and actually view it in person. The vendor is only allowing viewings from people who have passed the assessment and have their finances sorted out so we haven't been able to see it yet. Hopefully she will hear this week 🤞its across the other side of the city near where my sister used to live but on a new development that's been there a couple of years, the area around it is nice and it's close to a little village,it's still a 50 minute walk to work but there are buses and a cycle path almost all the way there. So she might be moving out sooner than I thought, I hope it works out for her because it's a lovely flat and she was really upset when she was told it was under offer the first time,so fingers crossed everyone 🤞🤞🤞

Fingers & paws crossed here for the flat. Hope cat is ok. These big lads often keep going for a while if they have infections, etc, before symptoms really start getting noticeable. Hope the vet bill isn't too huge, but whatever it is, you must make sure your daughter refunds you, as it's her cat & I know you took him in to do her a favour. You mustn't be left out of pocket, esp if you have to use your emergency fund. EFs are precious because they take a blimming sight longer to build than they do to spend.

Hope the cat is ok. I agree that you need to get the money back for the vet bills though. Hope the electrician sorts you out too. It’s always all or nothing isn’t it. Hope your feeling better 👍January spends - £587.581

How are you and the cat today? And the lights?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

It’s never ending isn’t it ☹️ Hope the lights are fixed at a reasonable price and that the cat is ok. My 2 cats are officially DD’s but apart from acquiring them, she’s contributed very little towards vet bills and other expenses.I hope you start to feel better soon, it must be so wearing for you.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Today's bad news is that the whole house has got to be rewired at an estimated cost of just over £3000 according to the electrician that came round. I have no way of paying for this and I don't know what I'm going to do. I really am at the end of my tether now 😢😢 I am getting a second opinion but I've been looking online tonight and for the problem I've got ( green goo in the wiring ) most people say you need to rewire, this will mean channeling into all my walls and pulling up the floor upstairs. I don't know who I've annoyed in a past life but it must have been bad
Ive also been signed off work for two weeks and my GP wants to increase my codeine dose to 60mgs four times a day. I can't actually function on this dose so it's not very helpful, I do sometimes take this dose at bedtime because it knocks me out but I can't do that during the day.
Ive come to bed but can't sleep because I'm in too much pain and my mind is trying to figure out how to find £3000 in a hurry, if I didn't have the cats and dog I would be walking away from this house and forgetting it ever existed. Last year it was the boiler this year the wiring. I'm tempted to just sell up and move out but I would have to tell people about the wiring and where would I go with my animals, I can possibly re home chickens but not B and the cats ......I am seriously done now
Edited to add
The cat goes to the vet tomorrow and I'm dreading itOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1204
