So sorry to hear about this difficult and painful situation, OBL. My Mum was lovely when she chose to be, but could also be difficult and I can remember when she was acting like a five year old, telling her to stop or I'd gather my family up and go home. She looked shocked, but she behaved better after that.

I don't know if a similar approach with your father would help: I can't advise really.

Perhaps you could avoid having meetings with your Dad at your home, so it remains a peaceful place? Or perhaps your niece could join you if you have to meet them both?

    Sending hugs.

You have done so well with SW…..I’ve blown it again and virtually the same weight as I was when I started.

Thanks Cherry, unfortunately challenging my Dad would result in him cutting ties with me completely which I actually wouldn't mind but it would really upset my mum and make her life more difficult. She has asked me not to say anything to him whenever I've told her I've had enough of his behaviour so I don't say anything now. Luckily they don't come here unless they are dropping something off that mum wants me to have which is why he forgot how to get to my house. I had offered him my postcode to put into his Satan's but he said no he would find it then got in a strop because he couldn't find the house

It's not even the act of them coming here,it's just that I know how nasty he can be when there's no one around so it's in the back of my mind all the time.

B seems perfectly normal again now,I didn't end up taking her to the vet because I woke up feeling awful this morning. I had to cancel the appointment and rebook it for Thursday morning 🙄

Woke up this morning feeling ill so cancelled the vet appointment until Thursday. I think this cold is now moving along to the runny nose and sneezing stage which will hopefully mean it will be gone soon. I was going to go to the new Hobbycraft store for a look around today but have decided to have another day lazing around in the hope it will get rid of this cold, I didn't get up until 11.30 so have had lots of sleep.

I've got my physio appointment tomorrow morning so will combine that with a trip to town to get some bits of shopping. I'm not going out for the day with my friend on Thursday now because they had some bad news so we are just going for a coffee and I'm going to Hobbycraft on Friday instead now. I am determined not to spend this whole holiday sitting on the sofa . I've been looking forward to it for weeks and had lots of plans that I've not been able to do. I don't go back to work until next Wednesday though so plenty of time still to get things done

I am also busy reading a book so will get that finished this week and I still have craft things I'm supposed to be doing. I've got some wooden snowflake and star shape embellishments to put on the advent house now so just need to buy the numbers and some red paint for the roof. I'm hoping to find them on Friday, there's loads on the website but I need to see them in person to make sure they will fit. I can't decide whether to paint the house with white gloss or chalk paint, the gloss would be easy to clean but the chalk paint would give a nice rustic finish, any opinions on that would be welcome 😊

  • I went to Hobbycraft before my card making week and was very disappointed with the stock in store . I should have ordered online , they did have loads of Christmas things though as you would expect at this time of the year.
Hoping that you feel better soon, so you can enjoy your time off . Hope B stays ok as well .
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

I think either paint would be ok. Depends on the finish on you embellishments I suppose. I popped in my Hobbycraft last week and looked for the advent houses. I didn’t see any.

The Works had something similar though I haven't been in recently.

Hope the cold soon goes, OBL. It might account for some of the wretched feelings over your parents' visit, I suppose but my heart goes out to you over that. So difficult.

Hope B continues to be better too.
