That's a very productive day. I use biofreeze on my pain and it really does help to ease it a little and take the edge off it enough to be able to do something. Think you can get it in places like superdrug and boots. It isn't the cheapest but it really does have an instant impact. x

I'm very glad you've got a diagnosis finally OBL. My mum had a hiatus hernia and had to be very careful not to lift heavy things, plus she had to avoid very fatty foods I think. Wine would also give her heartburn so she'd only have half a glass.

Your weather is probably like ours today, it started off quite nice but now it's raining and every door and window in the house is rattling in the wind!

I now have two days off so today I took B for a long walk along the river to the pet shop to buy some corn for the chickens, annoyingly when I got there I discovered they didn't have any 🙄it wasn't a wasted trip though because I bought B a box of her favourite gravy bones, I've been buying her the Mr S ones and they aren't the same and although she scoffs them down I'm sure she prefers the ones from the pet shop, she was really excited when she realised we were heading towards the river, it's her absolute favourite local walk which I don't do enough because it's quite long .
I then spent the day at home having a blitz of the house so everywhere looks lovely for 5 minutes. I did want to do some bits in the garden but it was so cold and looked like it might rain at any moment so I've left it for another day, I did get some washing dry on the line though so the wind was good for something

Tomorrow I have to go into town as there are a few things I need to stock up on and I need to see if I can find some new trainers for work, mine are falling apart now so badly need replacing, I was on the verge of buying some just as the lockdown came into force so I've had to wait until the shops opened and then couldn't be bothered so I'm hoping I will get some tomorrow. I am hoping I can now try some on otherwise I won't bother.

I've been proactive with my health goals too this week. I've cut down my portion sizes and I'm adding lots of veg to my meals,I made a Korma curry and added spring onions as well as onion, carrots ,peas and sultanas and it tasted so nice, I used Quorn chickens pieces and had less rice ,I normally have loads of Rice but halved it and was still full up. I'm drinking more water and no coffee after lunch so I switch to Rooibos tea which is naturally free of caffeine. I'm also getting more bursts of activity into my day so lots walking when  I need to go somewhere plus stretching throughout the day and before bed. Every time I boil the kettle or stand up to do anything or if I'm watching tv and there is an ad break I do some exercise such as squats, marching on the spot, lunges, press ups against the wall or worktop. I think this is also helping my legs and general pain levels as I'm not getting as stiff as normal. I've also lost 2.5lbs since Sunday so that's definitely a bonus.
All these ideas have come from Dr Rangan Chattergees book called Feel Great Lose Weight, I'm not following a diet plan because for me they don't work long term,I need to change my lifestyle habits which is what this book is about. It's just about making small changes that add up to big differences so I'm hoping it will work well for me. I am happy to lose a stone but would be really happy to lose a stone and a half so we will see how I get on 😊

It sounds like a nicely productive day to me. I hope the leg pain eases soon and lets you get a good night's sleep.
Thanks Cherry the leg has improved enough now not to have to resort to painkillers,I did do a long walk today and my hip  was throbbing when I got back but it stopped after I sat down for half an hour 😊

Thanks Hairy, I'm relieved to find out it's nothing serious 😊 I have cut down my portion sizes and am really making sure I chew my food properly and not rush my meals  and that is making a big difference. I'm also trying to drink more water to keep my throat moist. I haven't been able to drink wine for a few years now, it makes my face burn really badly, in fact most alcohol does this now so I don't bother, I last had a drink a couple of months ago and didn't actually finish it because I wasn't enjoying it at all

Small changes are good because they become habits after a while without you noticing. I know several people who go mad in January at the gym and on diets full of enthusiasm in the beginning, then they drop off mid-February and you never see them again, happens every year. It has to be realistic and something you can build into your lifestyle for good.
