Would the local pet shop deliver if you put in a regular order, might be worth asking. Especially if you mention it’s too heavy so you might have to buy online. Fingers crossed the kick doesn’t set anything off. Not a pleasant experience for you, is it something you have to contend with on a regular basis?

I too think contacting the local shop to see if they do deliveries is a good idea.  A lot of smaller local stores started doing deliveries in the first lockdown.  If it made sense to them, then they probably still are.  It's not like you are going to lose points for trying.

Not good being kicked in the face. Pleased it hasn’t had any bad effects for you.
Enjoy your time off work and stay warm
She hasn't so far 😂😂 being kicked and punched at work is becoming an occupational hazard at the moment but the patient isn't aware she might injure us so it's a case of keeping vigilant and your hands ready

My Local pet shop does deliver but the minimum spend is £20 and my two bags of feed and corn only come to £10 😟
Getting kicked, punched and spat at is a regular occurrence at the moment but will be stopping next week when the patient goes elsewhere. It's a very sad story and she can't help it but it does make it hard work and quite intense

They do deliver but it's a minimum spend of £20 and my bill is only £10 so that's why I pick it up in person 😊

I know what you mean about occupational hazard, that’s one of the reasons I left my old job. I ended up in casualty with broken ribs and another time with a bleed in my leg after being kicked at my old school which was a SEND school. The children we were getting were more violent and bigger and I was getting older.....not a good combination. And those children were only up to 11 years. I lost count of the number of times I’d filled the accident book in with scratches and bites 😳 there were lots of lovely times with lots of laughs though.....and the violence wasn’t usually personal- we just happened to get in the way of their frustrations 😏

  • Sorry you got kicked..hopefully it won't happen once she has left your area. It's really hard when they are not meaning to but then people always get hurt. Could you not stock up on the feed and get two lots to save you having to go out to get it. Sorry if that's a stupid idea. I know it might go off, and if course there's storage so sure you've already thought of that x

I do sometimes buy two lots of feed but at the moment with just two elderly chickens I'm not sure how much food I'm going to need,I also have limited storage so can't buy too much at nice. When I had 6 chickens I used to buy 20kg sacks but don't need that much anymore

I hope they find the missing man - this is no weather to be out. :(

Obviously I can't know the situation with the girl at your work and these things can have all sorts of causes but if she's with you it sounds as if she's in a time of transition and could be more unsettled than usual, so her behaviour is magnified. In that case you might need to take more care around shift change, and you might need to take extra care of what you talk about in her hearing... very difficult but you sound as though you have such a constructive attitude and insight into her that you are making the best of the situation. I hope whatever she goes on to that she meets with understanding people who can give her the support she needs.
