I think you should allow yourself the odd unproductive day, we all have them. Maybe a  Sutton Hoo visit could be a plan for post COVID times. I’d never heard of it but it sounds fascinating.

I watched The Dig at weekend. I loved it. We visited Sutton Hoo a couple of years ago. It’s not in my neck of the woods but we’d been on holiday to Southwold and detoured on the way home especially. I’d have liked longer there but if ever venture that way again we will definitely re visit.
I’m just finishing watching something called Traces on BBC i player - that’s set in Dundee a place I’ve visited a few times. I’ve enjoyed that too. I like watching things set in places I’ve visited.
That’s the best thing to do......concentrate on one job at a time then see where it leads you.
I've actually been to Southwold on holiday but it was before I became interested in all things Anglo Saxon, is it not too far from there, I know it's a long way from here 😀

Yes, OBL, the burial mounds are eerie at dusk. Sand bodies were also found on the site - as explained in the visitor centre, very interesting. The apartments there are out of our price range unless we go well out of season, but we quite like that, as more opportunity to explore with fewer folk around.
Maybe you will be able to visit one day.
    I hope so. It's a special place.

    Hopefully one day 😊

I did get a few things done in the end but didn't get too carried away, Sutton Hoo would be one of my dream places to visit, maybe I will request it as a 60th birthday excursion, only 2 and a bit years to wait and covid might be gone but then 😀

Today was a little bit productive in the end. I damp dusted the living room, cleaned the kitchen ( it was kitchen day today ) and hoovered the main areas. I also got two loads of washing done and sorted the 🐓🐓 I looked under the slabs in the run again and had to laugh because there is usually a straight tunnel going from one side to the other but today's tunnel went round in a circle , the weld mesh is doing its job 😂
I also looked back over January's posts today and worked out I had about 12 NSDs that month so Im pleased with that 😀 lockdown might be boring but it's saving me money 😀
I also made a tart for my tea tonight ,it was basically puff pastry topped with tomato and garlic purée a sprinkle of smoked paprika, cheese, onions and a red and orange pepper with some mixed herbs sprinkled on top. I was worried it would just take like a pizza but it didn't and was very tasty. The only thing I'm worried about is that the pastry was a day out of date so I hope it doesn't make me ill
Work also phoned me today to ask if I could work in outpatients tomorrow so I told them I would do 9-5 instead of 12 -8 which made us both happy 😀
Here is a picture of my tart 😀I ate it with a nice green salad

I'm also very interested in Vikings and would love to visit the Jorvik Viking Centre in York .
The tart looks very tasty, OBL. I think the pastry should be okay so long as it was kept in the fridge, and all the veg are bound to be good for you. (As well as tasty).

I haven't been to Sutton Hoo but I went to the Yorvik dig while it was still a dig - I remember walking round some wooden structure looking down into the area where the archaeologists were working, and there was a basket of Viking oyster shells that you could help yourself to as they were finding so many. Mine is bound to be around somewhere! I've been again since, when the children were at such an age that their main impression was the smell when we went down into the reconstruction - and it really was smelly! Another time I was very nearby supporting a client and we sat down on a low wall to watch the world go by... including a Viking complete with a sword and a Marks and Spencer carrier bag!

I'd also recommend Jarrow Hall, which I went to when it was Bede's World.

Hopefully you will get to all three one of these days. :)

    mmmmm tart looks tasty.
Sutton Hoo was somewhere on our journey home from Southwold.....not especially close. It broke the journey for us so we’d travelled a fair way before we got there. We hadn’t been to that area of England before so we did travel  a fair bit. Ds and dh did the driving and I just sat and relaxed so wasn’t paying that much attention to the distances.
I remember taking my 2 to Jorvik soon after it opened...it was the smell that was the main talking point and sticks in my memory too. I do go to York quite a bit in normal times - it’s about an hour and half from here, but only been in the museum once. Yes it’s quite funny seeming some characters walking through the streets in full Viking regalia sporting a mobile phone or carrier bag 😂😂
Glad you got better hours for the day in clinic 👍

  • That tart looks delicious.
I think I've found mice in my garage so will need to do something quick to sort that out!

  • I went to the Jorvik museum experience years ago when I was a student and it was really interesting, especially the smells as some have said. I may have been to Sutton Hoo as a child but would love to go again. I hope you get to go one day OBL.
