Morning OBL , I had to google Homity pie and I must says it looks very nice, it's something I would eat with GF pastry so it's on my list to make.As for the cash for shopping , my dad drew out loads of cash at the beginning of lockdown last year in case the banks shut and never opened again 😀. He has now been left with cash in the house that he can't spend . He has been paying cash for his shopping for a while and has had no issues .I have a separate bank account and debit card for shopping and petrol which I transfer to every pay day , maybe this would be an easier option.
Hope you have a good day , maybe an odd Valentine card thrown in.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.3 -

Opening a separate bank account is a good idea, I will look into that thanks, Valentine's involves large amounts of chocolate in this house so it's one of my favourite days 😀Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

HAPPY VALENTINES ❤️❤️❤️
Well despite oversleeping again I have had a productive day 😀I took B out for our usual walk through the fields, she was not very impressed with the rain though 😀 it's definitely my umbrella that the horse up the lane is interested in she was giving it the eye again today 😀
I've also sorted the 🐓🐓and given them some treats that will last until tomorrow hopefully because I'm at work so won't do them then. I've hoovered the main bits of the house and got one load of washing done with some more in the machine and I've made a Lemon Drizzle cake.
I have a cookbook called 500 Recipes For Bread,Cakes and Biscuits by Mary Norwak,it was 99p when I bought it in Smiths back in the 80s and it's the only book I use for making cakes, there is no recipe in there for lemon drizzle cake but there is one for Crusty Lemon Bake which it turns out is the same thing so I used that recipe, it looks good so I'm hoping it tastes good too. Last time I made it I used a Mary Berry recipe but it wasn't lemony enough for me
I've also checked my bank account today to make sure everything is on track for this month and I'm pleased to say it's looking good. I also rounded down the balance on my account and sent £2.23 over to the Christmas savings account, is this what is meant by a Tilly Tidy and if so how often do people do it
I was looking at my mortgage balances as well and they both have odd amounts that could be paid off next month, one is at £8,112 so I could take £100 and just save £200 of DDs rent to go towards the house instead of the whole £300. I can add the £12 from my wages,I'm not sure of the value of doing this though or whether I'm just better saving the money for the house or emergency fund
Ive been reading the Old Style boards as well today to see if I can pick up any budgeting tips. One thing I'm really going to try to do is to make more treats rather than buy them I take a mini bag of Maltesers to work to have with my lunch but quite often end up buying something else too, the multi bags are £3 for 9 bags but I also eat them at home too so they don't last very long,I'm thinking baking a cake and taking a piece of that to work would be cheaper than buying pre packed food. I will have to try it and see
Its the last day of my holiday today so it's back to work tomorrow,I'm looking forward to it on one hand because apart from DD I haven't spoken to anyone else all week and my best friend is working tomorrow so we can have a catch up hopefully on the other hand it's work and getting up at 5.15 am so not looking forward to that 😟 Its my long day tomorrow so that get it out the way nice and early then I just have a 9-5 in clinic on Wednesday and Friday before having Saturday,Sunday and Monday off next week, so a nice gentle week back. I'm not sure where I'm working tomorrow so will have to wait until I get there to find out
I don't have any plans for the rest of today which is quite nice,I'm just going to chill out and enjoy my last day of holidayOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8944 -
Yes that’s what’s meant by a Tilly tidy, just shaving off the oddments. I do something similar and this is my Christmas pot. Usually end up with around £600 which isn’t too shabby 😁 When I eventually get to physically go back to work and see real people I’m sure I’ll burst into tears. I was like this after being off for 2 months with my broken leg last year so goodness knows what I’ll be like after over a year of not seeing real people 😢I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
