  • That’s nice of John Lewis. I love a wander round their store, although it’s been a while since I was last in there. The gnocchi bake sounds good, reminds me I’ve got a pack of gnocchi in my cupboard. Not good you and DD both don’t feel great, seems like these are the long term effects of COVID.
I thought it was really a really nice idea, I mainly go in there at Christmas or if I'm looking for present ideas, I love having a wander round but only usually buy if they have a sale on
Im hoping the pair of us are going to start feeling back to normal by Christmas,I can see us in bed after tea on Christmas Day at this rate. The dark gloomy cold weather isn't helping either,I really need some warm sunshine

Take care OBL and hope you have a lovely sleep.
I hate dolls so try to avoid having them anywhere x
Thanks Nicnak, I'm not keen on dolls either, my mum used to have loads of those Victorian dolls that people collect and I thought they were creepy. My DDs both wanted one of those makeup dolls heads when they were kids and I wouldn't buy them one because I thought they were creepy 😂😂

My son had Covid quite mildly and he says his sense of taste isn't 100% yet but is definitely improving. I wonder whether it's like nerve damage and bits of you regrow? And it seems to manifest itself so differently in different people.
I hope you can rest soon.

Your sister sounds great, @badmemory!  Good for her, keeping strong and supple.

OBL - I think the evidence re your covid recovery is that you do need to rest. So you can go to work & rest at home but not do both of the above plus run around being Mrs Busy on days off as well. Lots of people will be opting for a quieter time this Christmas & I think you need to be one of them. A bit of additional rest might be exactly what you need.

  • I hate dolls too, my mum said I used to throw them out of the cot when I was small and I only wanted toy animals  🤣.

I'm sorry you feel unwell and tired still. Ignore the housework, who cares what it looks like? You're not allowed visitors anyway and you need to focus on resting and getting well.

Why not just simply tell everyone that you have an awful year, that you have no energy for Xmas, & to take a long jump off a short pier & get out of your hair.  Well that is the rude version obviously.  But please if you are going to tire yourself out do it for a sensible reason, not just to keep up with what you have always done.  This year is different (like we hadn't noticed that), but at least for this year we need to adapt to realities & the reality is that we are not going to be able to do what we would prefer to do, or even actually want to do what we would normally do.  This year the boyfriend suggested we do Boxing Day like last year, which mostly I catered.  Over my dead body!
40 people over the day, coming & going, my sister certainly wouldn't come & she was the star of the show last year.  Left me killing myself laughing, all these 40+ year olds saying take my seat, she was sitting cross legged on the floor (nearly 70) & she said no thanks I'm fine here.  Then she stood up to refill her plate, without touching the floor, their faces, even the 22 year old was a little gobsmacked.  And we won't go into the fact of one of those almost 50 yr olds trying to ask her for a date!  Well they say God loves a trier.
I can't get up off the floor anymore without touching the floor 😂 I have massively scaled down this year and I've tried to make it clear that this year is going to be a scaled back affair, at least I don't have to cook this year 😊
