My journey to a debt free life

Aww, we love 'The Good Life' Christmas Special. Mr F says they remind him of us...... the frugal self-sufficient couple, not the ones next door with the spare goose! We used to play that game with the orange at children's birthday parties back in the 1970s. And many others which didn't require screens or batteries. And nobody died of boredom!

I'm not mixing much with me and DD being in a school. I'll see my mum and sister who are my informal childcare and support bubble anyway.
Today I got frustrated by two people blocking the post office entrance to have a chat. One was considerably older than the other and had a walking stick. I stood and waited trying to get out and refused to squeeze past. The older lady looked at me and said "can't you get through?" To which I replied "yes, but if I do I'm coming into close proximity of you and we both are in schools" she soon moved.
She might not be going out much at all but people also gave to remember that offers are working in professions where it can spread quickly. My cousin works in a care home and their cases are huge.
I'm astounded by some people's attitudes to it.September 2017 Debt = £25330

Slightly fed up as we are in tier 3 and my elderly brother in law who is on his own is in tier 2. It is a three and a half hour train journey to get here so wont be going in the near future. I know strictly speaking as I am his bubble I could go but as he is in his late 80's I really dont want to risk it it. I feel guilty although he keeps saying he is fine etc but I dont think he ever sees anyone except me. Hard times for a lot of people. My dgd cant see her boy friend so she is fed up and my dd works in a restaurant so she cant work and is also fed up. On the bright side we are, at the moment, all healthy so not all gloom and doom.

Today has been a better day, I went for my ECG and it was normal 🎉🎉they think the chest pain could just be indigestion or do do with my reflux that I get, I just have to wait for the results of the blood tests now. My breathing has been a lot better today,I walked down to the doctors and back and I live at the top of two very big hills. We also took B out for a walk along the river this afternoon. It was such a lovely day here and we were both fed up of being inside, it was lovely to get out in the fresh air for a change. It's got really cold now though.
Ive just checked my bank account prior to payday tomorrow and managed to sweep some savings that were left over from this month.DD1 owes me £88 for the vet bill and was going to pay that tonight so that will come in handy this month. DD 2 will be paying me her keep tomorrow so that will be £300 into my bank. I've still got Christmas presents to buy but the Christmas fund is looking good still so no panicking there. Once I've done Christmas all savings will be going towards my flooring. I can also use the two free council tax months payments to go in that account so I'm hoping I can get the floors done by the end of February. There's decorating that needs doing first though so it depends on how quickly I get that done. I'm having the floors downstairs done first so need to get the living room and downstairs hall painted then I will move to the stairs and landing which will give me chance to save up for carpet for there and of course the bathroom of doom still isn't finished, I'm still trying to decide on how to proceed with this room because although I've got new flooring and I can paint it it needs tiling but I can't decide the best way to go about it, I will have to research a bit more, I'm toying with the idea of the waterproof wall cladding instead of tiles because it's so much easier to keep clean but it's expensive so might be out of my budget
As usual I forgot to record my no spend days which were Monday and Wednesday, I had to buy a new shower curtain rail on Tuesday because it broke and fell down, it was a twist tension rod and was a pain in the neck so this time I have paid a bit more for one that has adjustable holes so it can't fold up on itself, hopefully it will be worth the £19 I paid for it 😀

I forgot to say I bumped into my mum and dad driving away from my house just as I got back from the doctors, mum had dropped some magazines through the letter box for me on her way to do their shopping, I stopped to speak to them through the car window from a distance and they both seemed ok, I haven't seen them for weeks. Anyway I text my mum later to say thanks for the magazines and she said "it was nice to see you but you didn't look yourself 🙀" gee thanks mum for telling it like it is 😆😆 I normally have makeup on when I see my mum but I haven't worn any for weeks so I think she got a shock, I went and looked in the mirror and I do look a bit haggered 😳Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8945

Good news on the ECG.
I'm sure you don't really look haggard - other people are never as critical of us as we are of ourselves. Besides which it's November so everyone looks a bit pallid and your Mum probably last saw you when you'd had the benefit of summer sun.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Do any of us look "normal". I too haven't worn make up for some weeks. I may look rubbish but my skin is loving it.
