Sorry to hear about your dad adding to your stress. I can understand him not wanting to bother with surgery at his age though. Hopefully it won’t come to that decision. It’s one thing after another.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

She probably does and he's told her not to say anything, I think taking me for coffee was his way of getting me on my own to tell me. Weirdly I'm feeling remarkably calm despite the recent stress 😊Nicnak said:Yeah, that did happen to me. It's settled down a bit now though.
I do get what he means with him being nearly 90. Hopefully your mum does know otherwise that will be a difficult conversation to have.

It does seem to be one thing after another this year. I think if I was him I wouldn't go for surgery either and to be honest he probably isn't a good candidate anyway with his other health problems. He was offered treatment for polyps a few years ago and didn't take them up on it despite them warning him they could turn cancerous so I'm wondering if it to do with thatSun_Addict said:Sorry to hear about your dad adding to your stress. I am sorry to hear about your dad. My brother in law at 87 is very healthy has already said that if he gets cancer he doesnt want any treatment. I think this comes of watching my sister die of it. If it happens I am hoping he may change his mind but at the end of the day it is his choice as it must be for your dad. It is hard to realise your parents are getting older but my only suggestion is to make the most of your time with them.

I think if my Dad was healthy he might possibly make a different decision, my Mum went for the surgery option when she had breast cancer in her mid 80s but although she is in a lot of pain from arthritis she is healthy enough to have a good quality of life, I think my Dad is wondering what his quality of life would be like after such surgery at his age. He watched my sister die of cancer so he knows how awful it is. We will just have to wait and see what the outcome of the scan is nowladyholly said:I am sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sorry to hear this OBL. As you say, it's a case of waiting for the scan results - will this take long?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I can fully understand your dad not wanting surgery. It’s really taken it out of me having bowel surgery and I’m best part of 30 years younger and don’t have cancer.....it’s must be a hard decision to make though....January spends - £587.583

Thanks Cherry, he hasn't had the scan yet so I'm not sure how long it will all take,I forgot to ask him when it was, hopefully he will let me know when he finds out,he's just as likely to keep it to himself so I will just have to wait and seeCherryfudge said:I'm sorry to hear this OBL.
