  • My dog originally loved the Tails food (as did my cat) but after a while kept turning her nose up at it. I had the trial bag then the next one but she just stopped eating it. I think it was because it was so plain and samey. I then trialled the Butternut Box fresh food which goes in your freezer but I didn't have room for it in the freezer and she turned her nose up at that after a few bags. To be honest she just prefers Bakers but recently I've seen some bad reports about it causing cancer so thinking about changing again. She likes Lily's Kitchen dried food but it's quite expensive. I know dog owners who rate Harringtons which is good value. Plain chicken or fish would do B good though.
Thanks SA I will see how she gets on.she loves Bakers but it's a bit like the McDonald's of the dog food world so that's probably why. I think dogs are like people, they should eat the boring healthy food but prefer the junk 😀

  • I had a phone consult with a GP this morning and she has signed me off until the 11th of this month, she has emailed me a sick note for work so I can stop worrying about that now. I must say I'm very impressed with my surgery since it went online,I've never been able to get appointments so easily before, I like that you get triaged and they decide if you should have a phone appointment or go in to the surgery so it saves time for everyone 😊 The NHS do like to get their moneys worth out of their employees, the poor GP who I spoke to this morning was also off at home with a poorly child so was doing her clinic from her house 🙀she was wondering how she was going to sign my sick note if she wasn't at the surgery but said she would figure it out 😊
B must have gone downstairs last night and eaten half the food that was left in her bowl from breakfast yesterday and has just eaten the other half now, she has now gone to sleep on the settee so hopefully will stay there for a while
I removed the temporary gate on the patio this morning so both cats could have free rein of the garden, they both shot off  like they had been in prison. A came back after half an hour but j was nowhere to be seen, he usually goes out for about 10 minutes and then comes back, I found him in the derelict shed again which wobbled alarmingly when I went in to get him. He hissed and growled at me the whole time I was carrying him back to the house then stomped off upstairs to bed, I'm going to put the gate back up for a bit longer,I also need to take that shed down when I'm better because it's dangerous to keep having to go in and get him, it's got glass windows on the roof so if it collapses they will shatter and I don't fancy being in there when that happens 🙀

  • Sorry you are still not well.
It's a shame A got so stressed when your grandson was there and then bit you. When you're minding he will hopefully stay out of the way so that he isn't overly stressed.
When do you think you will get the results for B? Such a worrying time for you and then your washer as well.
Just all seems to happen at once. x

    Starting afresh.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x
  • I am sure A will learn pretty quickly to steer clear of gs when he is there!

Hope you and B feel better soon

Luckily it was only a warning and not a proper bite like he normally does, the vet has phoned me about B and it seems she probably hasn't got pancreatitis after all, her enzyme levels were just above normal so this means they have recommended a scan of her abdomen to see if there is anything else going on. I've booked her in for Friday so we will know then 🙁

I hope so, he is quite a contrary cat so although he doesn't like the attention he will insist on staying where he wants to be and expects everyone else to behave accordingly, typical bloke really 😂😂

  • It never rains but it pours🙄DD2s cat presented with a swollen hot leg today so I had to take him to the vet today, we think it's a cat bite but apart from some missing fur in various places we can't see an injury, he has a lot of black fur so it's hard to see on him, he likes to fight and the last time we took him in with what we thought were two bite wounds on closer examination turned out to be twelve puncture wounds all over the front half of his body 🙀🙀 he has been locked in with A for the last two weeks and the first day he goes out he manages to get in a fight,I've told him he is grounded now. I let A out when I got back and then heard a commotion outside the back door and he was on the patio squaring up to one of next doors cats, this cat tries to come in our house all the time and eats Js food, I suspect that now A is living here he won't be visiting anymore
DD would have taken her cat to the vet but she needed to go into town and was going to get some food shopping so I took him. She wasn't up when I left and when I got back she had just got up and was feeling ill so didn't go to town in the end.
We have done another online shop instead,I can't remember the date of the last shop and still have lots left but I decide to just stock up now and then adjust accordingly with the next shop, I still have all the quorn chicken pieces left so there is 12 meals worth just with that 😊 I've bought loose boxed wash powder on the advice of people here( think Hairy recommended it but my memory is shocking so sorry if that's wrong ) the liquid I bought last time didn't last long at all so I've now bought the big box to see how that works out,it certainly  costs less that's for sure.

The vet phoned me about B and said her enzyme levels were just above abnormal so she possibly hasn't got pancreatitis after all, she said it could be that it was the tail end of an acute episode but I'm not convinced by that, that then leaves to possibility of some sort of tumour somewhere so I have booked her in for a scan on Friday. Personally I think it's either her back and neck like last time or she has a urine infection. I picked her up last night but I did it awkwardly  and tried lifting her from the front and she yelped, I was no where near her tummy. The only way to find out and put my mind at rest is to have her scanned, I just hope it's nothing sinister and I'm right,if it's her back I can't claim on my insurance but I would rather that than it be something else 🤞🤞
In other news I was checking my bank and moving funds around to pay the vet when I noticed my dual fuel has gone down to £85 a month instead of £109 I'm wondering if I should contact SC and put my payment back up to £100 again, it was at £100 ages ago but I had to reduce it which increased the years on my debt free date, increasing it now would possibly bring that down again, on the other hand we are heading into winter and I will be using my heating so not sure if I should save the £24 somewhere in case I need to pay extra at some point. I'm due a review with SC in November but I think I might phone them for advice. It funny that it's gone down by £24 because I was lying in bed the other night thinking about increasing my payment to £100 and was thinking I could take £24 from DDs money 😀

  • Forgot to post this but when I was at the vets there was a rather snooty woman and her daughter in the waiting room and I kept coughing ( I was wearing a mask ) she was muttering to her daughter and I heard her say something about waiting outside to avoid being coughed on 😳so I followed them out, they actually backed away from me, I was very polite and said I hope you haven't come out here because of me, I have a chest infection but don't worry I've been tested and am negative, the lady looked so embarrassed and started to apologise profusely but I told her not to worry it was quite understandable in the circumstances and that I would probably have done the same thing, she said oh I bet you feel like a leper and thought well I didn't but I do now 😀 I only told them because I felt sorry for them standing in the car park, anyway the vet came out to chat to them and was coughing merrily away ( no mask or anything ) and she never said a word 🙄😀

My dear departed male cat was a real scrapper and I spent a fortune at the vets for various infections from bites. The vet said all the antibiotics and fighting would shorten his life - he lived to be 21 🤣

My cat hides when the GKs come, she’s not used to children and doesn’t like them.

Worrying about B but I hope the scan is clear and your suspicions are right and it’s something that can easily be sorted.

What with DD’s cat, that’s your vet booked their Caribbean holiday next year £££££
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
