  • I've managed to catch a cold 🙀🙀you really couldn't make this up 😀 so I'm sitting here sneezing and sniffling away, I did have a sore throat but that feels like it might be on its way out now so I'm hoping it might be one of those short lived jobbys and I will be ok in a couple of days, I woke up with earache this morning but that's gone again now
B seems a lot more spritely today, she has been for a walk through the fields and DD said she seemed to enjoy it, her tail was wagging when she left. The special dog food I ordered arrived yesterday so I tried her with some and she ate it all 🎉🎉she also ate her breakfast this morning so that's a good sign 😀I was in two minds whether to cancel the scan on Friday but I think if I don't get it done it will play on my mind, at least if we go for it we will know for sure one way or the other what is going on. I have paid for all her treatment and tests with the money I had saved up for the flooring but I'm hoping I can claim some of it back on her insurance. I really need to set up a dog fund for vets bills so will get onto that now, it's funny because the last time I saved up to do the flooring she ended up at the vet and I used the flooring fund back then too, I could use the EF but I really don't want to break into that unless it's an extreme need

  • Isn't it always typical that it starts out as one fund and gets snaffled elsewhere!
I'm hoping my kitchen and bathroom fund stay as that. Fingers crossed anyway x

It makes you wounder how you manage some days but you've the upmost support from all the wounderful people on MSE. It's lovely to see 😊

I'm a new poster and along with another thread I've fallen completely in love with money diaries. Literally to the point where its helped me track completly what I'm doing. It's great.

    All the best X

Thanks for reading 😊I read my own diary a couple of weeks ago and I really can't see why people find it interesting 😂😂 I am addicted to reading other people's diary's as well, it helps to keep me focused and I pick up tips too. You should set one up for yourself, it's a really good way of keeping yourself accountable 😊

  • I have been practising being a domestic goddess this week while I've been off and done some baking, I made a coffee cake first which turned out well then I decided I fancied a pineapple upside down cake but DD doesn't like pineapple so I used tinned apricots instead and that turned out really nicely too,it was more of a hot pudding a bit like Eve's pudding but with apricots  instead of apples. Today I had a bit of a disaster, DD bought some tinned mango slices but didn't like the texture so I bunged them in a cake. It looked lovely when it came out the oven but got stuck in the tin and broke, I've tasted it and it just tastes like sponge I can't taste the mango at all ( I have an absolute streaming nose though so cant taste much really ) so I'm going to buy some jam and chuck that on top then warm it up and have it with custard 😍😍😍 we still have a tin of mango slices left so I might try and mix them with cream and make some sort of fruit fool 😊
Apart from making  a cake I haven't done anything else today apart from sit on the sofa sniffing and sneezing. I just want everything to go back to normal now so I can get on and do STUFF . I'm so bored with sitting around not doing a lot when there's lots to do in the house

Sorry to hear you're not feeling much better.  Aside from the baking your body is telling you to rest so you should listen to it, the stuff to do will have to wait. The baking sounds lovely, especially the coffee cake, I don't eat cake very often but when I do coffee cake is my favourite 😍
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Coffee cake is one of my favourites too, I'm not bothering to bake anything else at the moment though because I can't taste anything properly so it would be a waste 😊

  • OBL is reporting in from her perch on the sofa. My nose is completely out of control today but the sore throat has gone so I'm hoping this cold might be gone in a few days. I've been using my vitamin D spray and have eaten loads of oranges, I can start taking my vitamins again now too, I wasn't allowed to take any with the antibiotics I was on but I've finished them now 🎉🎉Im still coughing and breathless if I do too much so I'm glued to the sofa, me chest feels a lot better than last week though so that's a step in the right direction
I have decided to crack on with decorating my bedroom when I get better,it hasn't been done for about 10 years an I'm fed up with it. I get black mould in the corners and on the ceiling so that needs to be dealt with, I will attack it with mould remover and then paint it with anti mould paint,I used some in the bathroom and the mould still hasn't come back so will use the same again, it's currently painted a nice neutral cream on three walls with a duck egg wallpaper featuring birds from Laura Ashley on one wall,I do like this wallpaper but it's seen better days so it's going. I have all white furniture in my room so I'm painting it a pale grey to compliment the furniture, I also desperately need some new curtains because mine are falling apart and let too much light in. I have been after some black out curtains for years but never buy any because I always end up with ones that don't look right in the room, anyway I took the plunge and ordered a pair from Dunelm and they arrived today, they are a pale grey and are lovely thick material, they were only £30 and I am really pleased with them. As soon as I am better I'm tackling that room as a priority, hopefully once it's done and I've got better curtains I won't be woken up by the crack of dawn everyday
Last night was also eventful. I went to bed feeling rough and fell asleep quite easily but was rudely awoken by the cats having a set to on the stairs 12.45, poor DD had to get up at 6am for work. I had to get up and sort them out,A was trying to come upstairs but J wouldn't let him🙄J and B sleep in Bs bed on the landing and A sleeps downstairs normally either in his bed or on the settee,I think he wants to come upstairs with everyone else now though but J is not having that, I think J has claimed upstairs as his domain now 🙄they are definitely getting used to each other now though so I think it's going to be ok. I let them both out this morning and they stood next to each other on the patio for a few minutes then ran off for about half an hour but they both came back and have gone to sleep now,J has been hiding in the shed but he came home today instead . His leg also seems back to normal now so that's a relief

  • Sorry you are still feeling rough. My smallest has a cold atm too. Streaming nose so definitely just a cold. But he felt rotten for a couple of days.
    Debt free Feb 2021 🎉
  • That's a relief for you that they seem to be getting on much better now. Long may it continue.
It is funny that one of them has claimed the upstairs though!
It's nice to hear that you are feeling a bit better and the ideas for your room sound lovely. It will look nice when it is completed. I bet the mould doesn't help your chest much either. x
