I'm quite impressed that I managed to order a new tv at about 3pm today and it was in my house by 8.30pm 🙀well done Argos is all I can say 😊 we haven't set it up yet because DD will have to do it and she busy,I will get her to do it tomorrow, it won't take her long because she is tech savvy whereas I'm .....not 😂
In other news I was slightly disgruntled with the government announcement that it's going to be mandatory to wear masks on public transport. Talk about shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. I think they are only doing it because they know that from the 15 of June people are going to to be rammed onto public transport, they are being very unrealistic telling people to not use public transport unless they really have to. No one in their right mind would choose to use public transport unless they had to .
Not one member of the public that I have seen wearing a mask has been wearing it in the correct way, they also don't take them off in the correct way either.
I went straight to amazon to looks for masks but didn't like what I saw, tried Etsy and they have some nice ones on there but I'm not paying £11 for a face mask when I will need several, I will have to wear one to work which will then be no good to wear home because I will have removed it,so I will need one to wear home again too so that's 6 to start with plus some for when I go shopping 🙀
DD came to the rescue with a video on YouTube which shows you how to make your own using cotton material,I have lots of pretty cotton material in my stash so will by having a go at making my own, it won't stop the virus because it's not a surgical mask so technically is a waste of time, but it will cover my face so at least I will be allowed to travel and won't get fined 😟Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8946 -
Yes, I read that too. I am one of the lucky ones that doesn't need to use public transport but I am also aware at how people aren't aware how to use them either. I know we all want to help with this virus, but I am not sure wearing masks now can prevent what has happened.
I love the situation you are in now with the TV. That must be a really amazing feeling to know that you can do that and that it doesn't have a detrimental impact to your debt. Amazing timing as well. I had to wait three days for mine to arrive when ex took it.
I have seen those tutorials too. There are a couple of none sewing ones and one made out of a new sock, that just involves scissors. x

Hi OBL, I made 10 masks from one of those online patterns. They were the most boring things I've ever sewn & it took me all day to make 10. I wanted enough for us to be able to take out a fresh clean one each time we feel we need to wear one in public, so that's why I made plenty. I was unsure initially because they are of course not surgical grade masks as you quite rightly say. but the latest advice seems to be that some sort of face covering is better than nothing & the pattern I used, which is the one with the re-enforced pocket in the back for inserting another layer, included lots of info making it quite clear that these are a home made version for Joe Public, rather than medical grade. I was interested to read your comment about people taking them off incorrectly. I have no medical training whatsoever so I have been trying to apply logic. My thinking is that it is pointless wearing one if you are just going to be pulling it on & off your nose & mouth while out & about - I've seen several people in our town sporting their masks around their necks in the same way as we might pop our sunglasses up onto our heads when we don't need them. That just seems to negate the entire point of having a mask. So we are getting back to the car, gelling our hands, then removing our masks using the elastic. They are dropped onto the passenger side floor, then as soon as we get in, the extra filter layer (made from a coffee filter paper (me) or a folded piece of kitchen roll (my sister)) is removed & they are put straight into the washing machine. Then we wash our hands. I think the advice re public mask-wearing has been really inconsistent in England (like a lot of things) & I did think that this might have been because the powers-that-be might have been worried about everyone desperately trying to get hold of masks & leaving medical/care staff even shorter of PPE. But the advice from yesterday seems to be that face coverings must be worn on public transport 'as a condition of travel (I'm not sure what poor sods are going to have to police that) & Nicola Sturgeon has advised the same & also that they should be worn in shops, particularly when 2m social distancing is difficult. She always sounds a lot more together than Johnson, so we are following that advice.
Oh, another thing I thought about re wearing masks in public is that it is probably a bad idea for people to wear them out & about then take them off & put them down on non-sterile surfaces or in the top of their shopping bag which has just been on the counter at the supermarket, etc. It's a bit of a minefield when you think how poor some folks' hygiene actually is. I do ensure that we wear ours with the pleats facing downwards, which I hope is correct.

I'm just glad I'm fortunate enough not to have to use public transport for some time.
Great news on paying outright for the TV. Argos are great for same day delivery, well worth the £3.95 charge. I always try to think what else I need from there to make it even more worthwhile

When we wear a mask at work we have to gel our hands then put the mask on. It then has to stay on for a complete session ( at the moment this is four hours) during this time you are not allowed to remove the mask for eating or drinking and you must not touch it at all,if you touch it you have to put a new one on. You take it off by gelling your hands then removing it by holding it by the elastic ear pieces, you then throw it into a clinical waste bin
I see so many people pulling their masks down so they are wedged under their chins, so all they have done is transferred possible spores to their lower face, I've seen them take their mask off and shove it in their pocket, they probably touch their face soon after and put themselves at risk again. I've also seen people wearing them with just their mouth covered, there needs to be more info out out there on how to use a mask safely, don't even get me started on gloves......no one should be wearing gloves to stop this virus. They just need to wash their hands frequently, I've seen now that some shops are telling people to remove gloves before they go into a shop and my hospital has requested that anyone coming to the hospital should not wear gloves
Im not sure about the direction of the pleats, I only know that mine is the right way up because it has a metal strip across the nose so you can mould it to your face, you soon know if it's not tight enough because when you breath out your glasses steam up and you can't see anything, last week I was trying to take a blood sample from a two week old baby, I have to wear my glasses when doing this as it's close work, I could not get my mask tight enough to my face to stop my glasses from steaming up so I had to pull it down under my nose, it was the only way I could see anything,I just have to hope that the baby's mum wasn't a carrier 😟 I didn't have a choice at that particular moment and the masks we are using are rubbish 😟

It's nearly the end of my holiday and it's gone by in a flash, where does the time go these days 🙀 I have spent today sorting out craft supplies and have tidied my craft desk. It had become a real dumping ground, then the cat decided it was the perfect spot to have a nap everyday. I've boxed up the things that I'm not immediately working on and they are going under my bed and are not to be disturbed until I have finished my list of current projects
There were three underwired bras on there that the wires had poked through, these bras were from M&S and only lasted a few weeks before this happened, they were the second lot that this happened to. I took the first ones back but couldn't be bothered to go back again knowing I would have to try and find a bra I like, I hate shopping for bras so I decided to mend them myself. I finally got that job done today so they are now back in circulation, I've just sewn over the hole where the wire came through but if it happens again I will have to stitch something over the top , I won't be buying them again that's for sure, but at least the repair will give me time to find another place to buy from, it's only taken me about 10 years to find these 😂
I also planned to shred loads of old receipts today but I didn't get round to it because DD was filming a video and her mike would have picked up the noise from the shredder, I will get that done tomorrow.
I did want to do some more jobs in the garden but it kept raining. I did clean the 🐓🐓out though 😊
DD set the tv up for me today so I have been trying to learn how to use it 🙀🙀🙀they don't come with an instruction manual anymore which is ridiculous. I thought I would be clever and find one online but although I found one it was too complicated to actually understand 😂😂 .Anyway she has downloaded all the bits I need such as YouTube and because she has an amazon prime membership she has downloaded that for me and Disney plus. There are sooooooo many good things on Amazon Prime that I have been wanting to watch so I'm really excited now 😀😀 Im not too fussed about Disney but they took over the Marvel franchise so all the films are on there, I love Marvel films 😍😍
My first Amazon Prime series is going to be Little Fires Everywhere which is based on the book by Celeste Ng, I haven't read the book but I've heard it's really good, the tv series stars Reece Witherspoon and from the trailer it looks good

I'm also not very good with technology so would struggle with no instructions!

Well today is really miserable outside. It's so cold and I can't believe that in the space of a week I've gone from wearing a thin cotton sleeveless top to a long sleeved warm top with a T shirt underneath and I still had to wear my coat when I went out 🙀
I had to pop into town today because I forgot to get the grit for the 🐓🐓and they need it to digest their food. I also bought a new A4 pad of lined paper for my budget folder because I had run out. What is it about buying new note books and paper that's so exciting, the one I've bought is just a budget refill pad from Wilkos but I still got excited about getting a fresh pad 😂😂 it cost me the princely sum of £1 😊. I also tried to buy elastic for the masks I'm going to make but it was sold out everywhere I could go, admittedly my choices of shops were limited because the haberdashers is still closed but still I thought someone would have some. I came home and logged onto my favourite craft supplies place and they were sold out too, in the end good old Etsy came to the rescue 😊. I haven't plucked up the courage to have a go at making one yet but will probably try on my next day off 😊
I haven't done anything else today apart from sort out the 🐓🐓and walk B, I have spent most of the afternoon reading my latest book ( The Woman In The Window ) on my kindle which I am loving, it's so light 😀 I also ordered a case for it today because I will be taking it to work and don't want it to get scratched in my bag,I'm also quite good at dropping things so I thought a case was a good idea. I managed to get a hard case that has capability of turning the kindle on and off when you open and close it, it was £19.95 but worth it for safety, I made use of my free prime membership trial and got free delivery plus it will hopefully arrive on Monday 😊
My holiday ends after today so it's back to work tomorrow. I have enjoyed having a nice relaxing week off but it's not the same when you can't do as you please.Strangely I'm sort of looking forward to going back which is weird 😂😂 tellingly my legs have been aching all day so my body has other ideas. I wish I could convince my brain that going to work isn't a bad thing, I did have a stressful shift on the Friday I broke up but Sundays are usually ok, that's why I like working them 😀
