I love your stories on the chickens.

I work at a centre that has two. I went out and had a chat with them after a particular rubbish lesson. They listened more than the students did, which was amusing as the other staff were laughing at this fact also. They were moving their heads as if they understood.

Hope you have had a good week as well. x

Awww how sweet, people don't realise what little characters chickens are which is why it's so sad that they get treated so badly by the farming industry, the first lost I rescued were sitting on my lap within days of arriving and they would sit there and listen to me moaning, sometimes they cluck in reply said they understand :rotfl:

Wow,I've had a busy week, work has been bonkers and I've literally been coming home and collapsing in a heap
I have the weekend off though so a bit of time to recharge,by that I mean do all the washing and clean the pets out 😀 I'm not feeling great so I'm trying to pace myself today,I'm just having a coffee and then I'm going to sit and do some sewing while the washing is on,I've taken the dog out and the chickens are running round the garden so everyone is sorted

I really need to get out and tidy up the garden but the weather keeps putting me off,I'm going to have lots of leaves to pick up soon but I quite enjoy doing that, they can go in the chicken run and then on the garden and in my planter,I have just picked some of the last tomatoes,I'm really pleased with how many I got and the fact that they survived, I also managed to grow some tiny peppers but they kept getting eaten before they got big enough to pick, going to net the plants next time to see if that stops the critters,I can't use slug pellets because I don't like killing things
My Sainsbury's butternut squash seed experiment didn't pay off,I got some massive plants with lovely flowers but no squash,I will buy seeds next year and try again

Good news on my little dog, she has improved lots since being on her meds and the cbd oil,I'm not sure what effect the oil is having yet because she is on anti inflammatories but she can't stay on them long term so I will see if it helps when we stop them, there are other drugs she can have but they all come with side effects so if the oil works I will keep on using it

Right coffees finished so I'm off to do some sewing

I hope a night's sleep has helped: sounds awful! There are some horrible colds going the rounds.

Good news about the meds and oil having a positive effect on your dog :)

Sorry to hear you feel unwell. Mr SA has flu at the moment and I think it's doing the rounds unfortunately. I don't feel 100% myself.

Love the hen stories, they are real characters. Many years ago we stayed in a villa in Greece and we were invaded every day by hens and turkeys from a local farm. I even had a hen sitting on my knee at one point :)
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

I'm back after a week of being poorly, I went to work on the Wednesday and felt ill but not too ill to go to work,I had Thursday off and didn't feel too bad until the evening when I started to feel sick....I woke up in the early hours of the morning with D&V so couldn't go to work, the shivers aches ,pounding head and tiredness arrived so I ended up in bed all day Friday,I woke up Saturday and weirdly didn't feel too bad to phoned work and said I would be in on the Sunday, went to work Sunday and after a couple of hours started to feel ill again,I managed to finish my shift though then had two days off by Tuesday I was starting to feel a bit more human again, yesterday I had the headache again all day and I woke up with it and a really painful neck this morning, deep heat applied to neck and brufen taken for the headache and I was good to go,I actually feel the best I have for about three weeks now and my chest actually doesn't feel wheezy today so hopefully it's mostly gone now
I've had my flu jab so that was timely,I had to get In quick though because the NHS trust I work for has now run out and is having trouble getting more supplies,I wouldn't normally have it with an active illness going on because they don't recommend it but I didn't want to miss my chance,I've had flu and I don't ever want it again

Today is my day off and so far I've been out with the dog for a long walk along the river to my nearest pet shop because I needed chicken food,I got her a chewy bone while I was there too because she gets so excited when she can smell all the treats and I feel guilty leaving without anything, honestly it's like going shopping with a small child who wants sweets

On Tuesday I gave the chickens a really good clean out ready for the winter,I also tidied up the garden area of garden where the chicken run is situated, this used to be my lawn but there is no grass left because they scratched it all up,I just rake the soil flat now then they come along and dig it all up again

I haven't got plans for house stuff today so I'm going to do some sewing,I have pegged out some bedding because it's sunny but it keeps showering with rain so I might have to bring it back in again
I wish this rain would go away, not having a tumble drier in wet weather is a pain in the bum

Edited to add that I forgot I'm also taking the dog back to the vets later so he can see how she is doing on her meds, she has improved a lot and is definitely a lot perkier so that's good, I should also find out this week if the insurance will pay for the bill,I don't think they will but I can hope
