. It's lovely to hear from you and I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now.
My menopause lasted six years but luckily I don't think I suffered from mood swings (although there was so much going on in my life then it's hard to work out what was causing me to feel depressed!). You will come out of the other side menopausewise, but it is unpleasant while it lasts. I mainly had the most awful hot flushes where I felt like my blood was boiling and my face would go bright red
.
I chose not to go the HRT route as I was worried about an increased cancer risk, but it's only a small risk and I know many take it and are fine. Do you think yoga or meditation or anything like that would help? I expect you've though of that already.
Anyway I hope you feel your normal lovely self soon. Let us know if we can do anything to help :grouphug:.
I've just worked out that it's been 4 months since the period I had in January and previous to that I had one in March 18 so I nearly made it to a year with out one, I don't note them down so I wasn't sure when the last one was, thankfully I remembered writing it down in this diary and managed to find it
I'm not bothered by the hot flushes too much it's the mood swings that get me, for the last few months I've been swinging wildly from happiness to feeling low and tearful with bouts of anger and extreme irritation thrown in as well, but for the last month it's just been a feeling of hopelessness and extreme sadness, I really started to think I would be better off not actually being here at all at one point, thankfully I am over that now,it's such an awful awful feeling
Poor DD is really stressed out with uni at the moment too and I'm not being much help for her either, she has her own issues with depression and anxiety and is not feeling too good herself so really don't want to let her see I'm not feeling great either, she does know I'm feeling low but not how bad I've felt over the last couple of weeks
I just feel like I should be happy,I've got two lovely daughters and my lovely grandson, my life isn't horrible ,it's been horrible in the distant past but at the moment I am in the best situation I've been in in such a long time but I just feel so sad and like everything is pointless, there is plenty in my life to feel happy about but I just seem to have lost my enthusiasm for life in generalOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Sorry to hear things are tough for you. I had my menopause early and it was more or less all over by 50. I took after my mum thankfully and had very few symptoms. I do get mood swings but then I've always been volatile so hard to tell if menopause related LOL.
Take care xxI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

Depression isn't logical unfortunately. Just because you should be happy doesn't mean you are happy. Is there any mileage in seeing your doctor and asking for counselling? Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I've been for counselling before but didn't like it, I'm actually better writing things down that are bothering me and I've been meditating at bedtime which helps me sleep a bit better,I'm just hoping that it's hormonal and will balance itself out at some point,I'm usually really good at seeing the bright side and pushing on through these moods knowing they will eventually go away but this last episode was unusually bad, I think I will see how it goes and then go to my GP if it doesn't get better, she will want to put me back on anti depressants though and I dont want to go back on them, the side effects are horrible and I don't feel anything at all when I take themOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

Thanks Cherry,I've been hibernating a bit over the last few days,I'm trying to relax a bit more and get plenty of sleep but also some good walks which always make me feel betterOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Awww, sorry to hear you are feeling low, OBL. I'm sending my best wishes that you pick up soon, & cat is sending a purr.....it's a bit of a grubby one, as he's been outside rolling around in the bark chips, but he is very good at cheer-up cuddles.
Take care now,
F x
Awww I don't mind a grubby cat, ours came in with something unidentifiable stuck to a patch of fur on his back yesterday, the only answer was to snip the hair off with the scissors so he now has a little bald patch, if looks could kill I would not be typing this now
My animals are certainly a tonic and I'm sure my dog knows when I'm feeling low, she has been giving me lots of cuddles latelyOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

It sounds like you've got a good approach for dealing with it OBL :T. But see how it goes. I'm sure the hormones are having an awful lot to do with how you feel. Animals always know when you're feeling low and try to give comfort. When I had cats as a child they were always rubbing around my ankles or headbutting me when I was feeling down. They're so sweet and giving.
