The loose mushrooms in the paper bags are always cheaper, and usually much fresher than the plastic wrapped ones in our MrM at least. My mum used to buy huge cardboard punnets of mushrooms from the greengrocers, not seen those for years.
Thanks for the info Redo, unfortunately our Pounstretcher closed down a couple of years ago:(
We found loose mushrooms and paper bags in Mr S,DD was pleased with this as a punnet usually goes off before she manages to use them all
I remember going to our corner shop for my mum when I was a child and you could buy loose eggs, they were in a basket and you just picked up as many as you needed, this was also when eggs had white shellsOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
I've been out and bought my layers pellets for the girls and they had mixed corn in stock so I got some of that too,my girls love a bit of corn and so do the visiting robins:rotfl:
Im using up my freezer food at the moment so just needed to buy bits to make up a meal,I have potatoes so needed veg, there is only a co op supermarket in my local shopping precinct but I had to use that as it's nearest the pet shop ,the chicken food is heavy so I can't travel too far
Suffice it to say I won't be using the Co Op to buy veg because I think 95%of it was wrapped in plastic,I bought some carrots which were the only loose veg they had,I was eyeing up some tender stem broccoli but it was wrapped in plastic so I gave it a miss
There used to be a lovey greengrocers in the shopping precinct but it closed down a few years ago:(
I'm just having a little break before I do some housework,I'm still not feeling that great but the house needs hoovering so I'm just going to have to man up
I'm also making a banana bread later because I have bananas that need using up andnive got a load of washing to chuck on too,I should have done that this morning and pegged it out because it's lovely and windy but I just couldn't be bothered
Today's spends were
Food shop= £12.39
Chicken food = £11.98Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
I hope you feel better soon OBL, I hate having a sore throat.
Your chickens are certainly demanding ladies :rotfl:. I hope DD is available to help you soon. Do you use a shopping trolley to transport your chicken food? So many things are really heavy to carry without a car.

Hi Hairy,my throat actually feels ok again now but I have a headache instead, I still feel a bit shivery,it's weird because I feel like I've got hay fever but that doesn't account for the shivers
I do normally use a shopping trolley but was only intending to get layers pellets today, they don't always have corns so I grabbed some while it was in,it's only 5kg bags but they are heavy,I used my rucksack for the food shopping today
The hoovering desperately needed doing,I think there was more garden in the house than there is outside, the chickens came in twice on Sunday and traipsed leaves everywhere,I also can't relax if everywhere is a mess so hoovering made me feel better :rotfl:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
I know what you mean about not being able to relax if there's a mess because I'm the same. If I see mess out of the corners of my eyes it really bugs me.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I've finished now so it's all looking a bit tidier now,I've got to give the bathroom a wipe over and clean the chickens out but that's all now,I'm hoping I don't feel like this tomorrow because I have work in the afternoonOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

I actually felt ok this morning.....very weird......I had extremely itchy eyes when I got to work though so I'm now thinking hay fever, it's tree pollen time at the moment I think and all my trees are dropping pollen soaked seedlings all over the place,I had to go to Boots when I got to work for some eye drops and allergy tablets
Today work was very quiet and very boring so it dragged a bit, I'm normally in a clinic on Wednesday afternoons but it wasn't on this week so I was on the ward instead,I was glad to get home, I hate slow days
Today was also going to be a NSD but I had to buy allergy stuff,I noticed something interesting today, when I buy things I normally don't take the receipt but now I'm logging my spending I'm taking my receipt and today I got a points voucher as well,if I hadn't taken my receipt I wouldn't have got that voucher:eek: it's for double points too
Tomorrow is a day off but I have to get up early because I have doctors appointment,I have finally made an appointment to see my gp about episodes of neck, upper back and shoulder pain I keep getting, Im quite sure it will be a wasted journey but I won't know if I don't go, they tend to just say it's the Fibro, I would like to find out what is causing it but I expect they will probably just send me for physio
Spends today were
Boots= £6.68
I'm shocked I've just added up my spending so far this month and it comes to £133.81:eek: and it's only the 8th of the month, £68.61has been spent on food shops,£12.99 on the eco egg which will hopefully save me money in the long run, £11.98 on chicken food which is an essential and £40.23 on things I probably didn't need including £13.20 in Costa:eek:
I clearly need to sit down and work out a more frugal stringent budgetOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
